No output in kontakt 5.1+ from my mpd18 yet works in reason and session drummer

other virtual instruments appear to work like session drummer reason in the korg sampler with strings however when i try to use kontakt and load a instrument kit of any type nothing is triggered by the mpd the only way to play and hear the samples is by clicking over them with the mouse i dont know if kontakt only supports midi hardware but im using a usb only device
