Producer upgrade and multisample folder problems.
I am a novice. On advice I built a multi drive pc. To my horror when I installed my X3P upgrade all multisample folders were created in C:/ automatically (I think).
So I uninstalled Dimension Pro and re-installed it, and it gave me the option of choosing where to place the multisample folder so I could use my S:/ sample drive. Great.
IO did the same with Rapture, but I can not find a separate Rapture installer to re-install it.

The easiest way to move the Multisample folders (or most any other folder) is relocating them at the OS level and creating directory junctions to the new locations. For example, if the Rapture multisample folder is currently "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Rapture\Multisamples" and the new location is "S:\Samples\Rapture\MultiSamples", here are the steps to perform the task: 1. Using Windows Explorer move "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Rapture\Multisamples" to "S:\Samples\Rapture\MultiSamples" 2. Launch Windows cmd.exe 3. At the cmd prompt type mklink /j "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Rapture\Multisamples" "S:\Samples\Rapture\MultiSamples" Another way to perform the relocation for Cakewalk synth samples only is through registry edits. The detailed are provided here http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/2673527 I prefer the mklink approach and it is a more general solution and does not mess with the registry. Both solutions can move data without the need to reinstall anything.

I can confirm that what scook suggests works like a charm. Before reading his posts about this I used to do registry hacks (which work too), but mklink is a much more elegant solution.

The mlink method also has the added benefit of handling installers that fail to use the registry for the file locations. The file locations appear to be the defaults. That means expansion packs which only install in the default location will automatically be installed correctly.

I've moved (copy/pasted) my files to my F:\Samples\Dimension Pro\Multisamples I did the same thing with rapture,of course with new folders for each. When I tried to do the 3rd item (mklink /j etc.) at the command, I get this error message: C:\Users\Daves-New Daw>mklink /j "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Rapture\Multisamples" "F:\Samples\Rapture\MultiSamples"Cannot create a file when that file already exists C:\Users\Daves-New Daw> What am I missing?

Instead of moving "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Rapture\Multisamples", the folder was copied to the new location. This would mean "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Rapture\Multisamples" still exists on the hard drive. The mklink command will not overwrite an existing entry. Remove or at least rename, if you are unsure about the process, "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Rapture\Multisamples" and rerun the mklink command. Once satisfied the process worked delete the renamed "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Rapture\Multisamples".

Much thanks scook! Now I have (what looks like) a shortcut folder named Multisamples on my os drive that, I'm assuming, is pointing towards my F: drive and all of my files are there. I'll delete my "Old" folders now to hopefully gain a little more than 13 gigs of available space on the ssd.

This is pretty awesome.... moved my folders for Studio instruments, Session drummer content, rapture samples and dimension pro samples.. Only one question though......... If Cakewalk command centre adds content.... will it be placed at the original location or will the junction link fool the installation and place it elsewhere in my newly located folder?
