When the new feature request voting feature arrives in Sonar, I hope this one will get some votes.  Actually, I hope this feature gets put into Sonar before the voting feature is put in place.  But, that's wishful thinking.

Wouldn't it be nice to have show/hide collapsible tracks within the console?

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

I can see the function being implemented in any of five ways:
1. Yes, folders make sense.
2. Ultra-narrow strips are smart, especially if they have an auto-zoom feature (as in TV) to expand the current.  It could be very cool to have a single strip at full size in the center as you scroll or page through the tracks of a project.
3. Mix sets or sub mixes could be established from groups.  Then using tabs like on the multidock or a "multi-console" you could switch between sets of consoles that only show those tracks that apply to your current workflow task.
4. Collapsible strip panes which would each show a single range of the CV, but multiple ranges could be visible simultaneously.
5. Sticky strips that allow certain tracks to be persistent no matter which other tracks were currently showing on the CV.

+1 again for me.

I DO happen to have pretty good luck with running with 2 displays, with 1 running the console view and the other running track view and edits and such. I use a 40" HDTV and a 32" HDTV, but would STILL love track folders implemented somehow for the console view, as well as nested folders.

Rob[atSound-Rehab]
I had posted this over in the other thread requesting CV folders ...

Collapsing mixer channels based on folders would be great (although I doubt this would work with the VS-700 but hey we are officially legacy!)

I'd like to suggest an option where collapsed folder/channels don't fully disappear but become so narrow that all controls are gone, but the LED meter remains to keep seeing levels ...

side effect: cake could add this as a "very narrow" channel view (to allow this view for individual channels) so you could also set up a meter bridge with all channels in a screen set (I know you already can do but with faders requiring larger screen estate) ...

I know this is an old thread, but i stubled across it. Actually it works perfectly in VS-700. The mixer console reflects the track view. Collapse a folder and all faders are updated on the mixer. Very neet, just the way it should be in the console view as well

Showing track folders also in mix view would allow to access track group features (solo, mute, record, echo buttons) and to expand/collapse groups in mix view.

I like this view (great depiction!), but I hope CW could make it painfully obvious (left or right) which direction the expansion explodes.
