Copy/Paste Volume Envelope?

Sorry, I know this has been talked about. I searched the forum for copy envelope and the return was "no results".
I googled X3 "Copy envelope" site:http://forum.cakewalk.com and found nothing useful, even though it actually found things that the forum search can't find.

My problem is:
I want to copy track and clip envelopes from one project to an other.
Is it possible ? ... or am I wasting my time being that the only way to really get this done is to recreate them from scratch?

I know there's the option in Copy Special and Paste Special but it's not working.
If anyone has found a way to do this then please let me know.

Thanks!

I'd say the best way is to open both projects. Then select the track, use copy special and tick everything in the box.

Choose the other project and use paste.

You'll paste the whole track this way, not just the automation. But it'll work and you'll get what you need in your other project.

Nice thought Loptec but it doesn't work, but you did give me the next idea to try. ***
It is possible the problem is that the origin project is from Sonar 4, opened in X3 and going to a new X3 project.

*** I saved the original project as an intermediate step when it's open in X3 ... closed everything,
re open both. Try again. No luck.
I opened it in safe mode. Well, that wiped the original envelopes so no good there also.

Undoubtedly, this is because it's from a Sonar 4 project trying to go to an X3 project so I'll just do it manually.
I'll be able to copy the node information because there are very few nodes per envelope.

    Thank you.

It doesn't work for you? :/ I tried it to make sure it works before I posted the suggestion and it worked fine for me. :/

You have to be careful about how much you select by paying attention to the select region in the timeline. This could be an issue as well as the now time. HTH

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

I would think if you can't copy automation data or drag and drop tracks in Sonar 4 then there's probably no easy way to do it. Once it's in X3 though, you'd think you could cause you can do both in the X series.

Loptec: see ... "Sonar 4 project trying to go to an X3 project" ... in my reply to you

Guitarpima: "select region in the timeline"
Thanks. Will try that next and get back with results. Most likely in the early morning EST.

Soens: Not sure if I ever tried it in Sonar 4. I might during next session to confirm. Thank you.

Good thought but still no luck. I selected only the area needing to be copied and now time was 1:00:00

so lets call this one closed.

    I did the envelopes manually.

    Thanks everyone.
