I got around to trying these today and I was extremely impressed Craig.  They are definitely ready to go sounds with a lot of character.  I'll be using these in a project real soon.  Great job..!

Thanks for making my day

My goal was to make your lives easier by being able to just drag something in and have it sound good. We all love music and I wanted you to be able to expedite the song creation process. It took almost a year to do these.

But FYI - these are just the start. I have almost 40 effects that Cakewalk is currently figuring out how to integrate. For example there are humbucker-to-single-coil processors, several "stomp box" modules, and some ADT modules.

These are all processors I use in my own work, and I'm happy that Cakewalk's new membership model will allow me to share them with you!!

These do sound awesome; that said I had to keep turning on/off input echo for them to sound correct. If it didn't they were extremely muddy.

Hmmmm...I was hoping the updated versions fixed this. Did you download the latest versions that were released within the past day or two?

I have v1.0.0.8 which looks like its the most recent version.

I should clarify that it only happens when you delete the current effect chain and replace it with another. Works as advertised if you are adding it for the first time.

Craig, do you use these for processing already recorded (real) guitar or via some sort of vsti?

If real, are you starting with a clean signal or do you get as close to what you want before processing?

Thanks

Not quite sure I understand the question, but the way I use them is to play through them when tracking. Therefore I'm recording a dry guitar part, and processing on playback.

I must say I totally overlooked these amps because of that input echo bug. I've stumbled upon this thread and decided to give them a second try and, of course, now I changed my mind about them. It's always good when someone just doesn't make a 150th Mesa/Marshall/Engl vst implementation and goes instead for something custom. Nice job, Craig!
Buuut I have to admit: at first, when I loaded the Dark Metal amp, strummed the strings and heard some strange, unpleasant and muffled zoom505-like sound, my impression was somewhat close to Letyourlightshine's. :p Wait, wait... I- I can explain... Stop hitting me! I did not know about that input echo thing! Come on guys... Ouch!

Did you download the updated amps? I need to know if this is still a problem with the latest versions. Can anyone else comment on this?

Well, Command Center shows that Anderton FX Chain Collection's installed version is 1.0.0.8. I tried reinstalling from Command Center, no change. X-Amps belong to FX Chain Collection pack, right? I think I'll try the manual .exe installer.

Craig, I tried manually deleting the amps and re-installing them from the downloadable .exe setup. Same behaviour.

Hmmm, have not been able to reproduce. Could you (or anyone else having this issue) do me a favor...try deleting the CA-X Amps folder from Cakewalk Content > SONAR Platinum > FX Chain Presets, and then re-installing from the Command Center instead of manually.

Do these get updated via the Command Center and how do you know if you have the old or new versions?

Open the SONAR option and you'll see the various installers. Scroll all the way down, mine's the last one. If the light next to it is green, it means you've downloaded the latest version. If it's red, do the update.

Yep, that's exactly what I did. Tried it again, but with Command Center this time just to be sure. Same thing.

Now wait, there is more... This bug disappears when I set audio rate to 96k or 88k. But the bug is still present in 44k and 48k modes. Well, that's something at least.

I tried using the CA-X Amps and I'm having the same problem as some others are. They don't sound much different from the unprocessed signal other than being muddy. I launch the program from the Command Center every time so it should be up to date. I tried deleting CA-Amps folder, then the entire FX-Chain Presets folder and each time the Command Center never indicated that an update was necessary, even after a reboot. I reinstalled anyway and there was no apparent change in the plugin's sound whether the Input Echo was on or off. I, too, am using the 44.1 kHz sampling rate. I would rather not but I'm trying it out so I can use the USB output of my Digitech RP350 when I want to record that device's sound. The version showing in the Command Center for the Anderton FX Chain Collection is 1.0.0.8.

IMPORTANT: Note that you must have the Sontius FX, Cakewalk DirectX effects, and TH2 Producer (for Platinum, TH2 SONAR for Artist and Professional) installed on your system for the amps to work properly. Various elements of those plug-ins are "borrowed" for use in the amps.

Just downloaded and installed Sonar Platinum and your Amp Sims yesterday. FWIW I still have the input echo muddiness thing happening until I turn it off/on. Then the FX chains sound awesome from what I've heard so far. Good work Craig. I'm assuming I've got the latest downloads as of yesterday. My studio DAW is offline so I cant do the CC green light check.

cakewalk.comFrom country to metal, bass to funk, classic rock to futuristic, SONAR’s 16 new drag-and-drop amps aren’t about emulating existing amps—but creating idealized amps that can exist only in the virtual world. Get ready to change how you look at amp simulations.

Are these actual amp sims, or is this just a gussied up FX chain?

Both, actually. FX chains provide a framework, but there's also a lot of proprietary IP I developed for Gibson while working on the FBX guitar. I've been developing them for almost a year.

If you want to hear what they sound like, listen to the first four music videos on my YouTube channel. All the guitars and basses went through these sims. Also, most of the effects were ones I've designed (and will be made available to members).

I checked out the guitar sounds in your videos. Those are some pretty tasty tones! This just gives me another thing to look forward too when I upgrade. Thanks for sharing them Craig!

I checked those out and found that the Cakewalk DX was corrupt in my X1, X3 and Platinum versions. Adding some of the Cake DX to a track FX bin, including Amp Sim, crashed whichever version I was using. I reinstalled all three versions, with updates, and while the Cakewalk DX seems okay now, the CA-X Amps still don't work for me. I have reached 110% of my aggravation limit so I guess I'll stick to GR4 or TH2 for now.
