Yeah I already did that, initially it didn't change anything. After a few tries it fixed the issue with "N" not toggling the snap on/off. But the fact that I was messing around with Sonar trying to produce the same issue the OP is having and suddenly "N" somehow stopped working without me touching any of the key bindings or preferences proves that the OP's issue is in fact being caused by Sonar.

Oh, it definitely has something to do with SONAR, I didn't mean like it was caused by a graphics driver or something. But someone may have set up a different bunch of keyboard shortcuts or something...or there may be some unique workflow that exposes an issue that a standard workflow wouldn't. I just can't figure out what could be the issue, I must have pushed that N button a couple thousand times over the past two years, and never had an issue with TV or PRV not acting as expected. The odd part isn't so much that a glitch could happen from time to time, but that it appears Keni has NEVER gotten it to work correctly for as long as I've never been able not to have it work correctly. That's bizarre.

That's exactly what I expect... I understand the separate value setting for PRV...

But the N key is not doing that here... When the PRV is open, pressing N does nothing...

When you say it "does nothing," what happens to the colors shown in the screen shot? Does the TV color toggle between gray and bright blue, but not the PRV? Does the PRV snap value field stay stuck on light blue or bright blue?

Clearly "N" DOES work because it works for everyone else, in X3 and Platinum. Do you have PRV Snap Override bound to something in keyboard bindings and are hitting it accidentally?

Try importing the SONAR Default Key Assignments so you have the standard keyboard shortcuts. If you have custom bindings, export them first under their own name in case you want to re-import them.

Hi Craig...

Sorry I missed this post...

No, as you can see in posts that follow yours, others are finding it mis-behaving...

My not doing anything, I meant exactly that. No color changes, no change of action... Nothing... If I use the mouse everything behaves as it should...

I'm now thinking relative to FidelityMusic's post... I seem to remember having some oddities with the PRV buttons related to grid follows snap and it may be around then that is having the grid revert to global was uncomfortable for me as I use the grid for guide lines even when snap is off... But what I'm getting at is the discovery he had when changing the PRV snap in between uses of the N key... This with my recent encounter in 2015 having the PRV buttons disappear from the screen (including the grayed out grid when snap is disabled) only to be brought back by closing and re-opening PRV...

Something is going on...

I only use a single (large- I don't remember if it's 27" or 30") monitor...

When I edit midi in the PRV, it is a full screen view not using the multidock... A window all its own...

I wish I could remember the acronym for this setup... I've mis-named it MSI mode previously but it makes the PRV more as it was in 8.5.3 and previous which I still prefer...

If I can remember how to change it I will try and see if this fact relates to the issue...

If you want the windows in SONAR to work like 8.5 after undocking the PRV click the control in the upper-left hand side of the PRV and "Disable Floating". If the Track View or PRV get maximized use ALT-1 and ALT-3 to toggle between them.

Thanks scook...

I remember doing that but didn't remember the actual wording used. For some reason I seem to remember it using some kind of acronym for the mode, but that was long ago and possibly (?) changed...

I hope to try this tonight when my generator is running so I can see if this is related to the N key snap toggle for PRV...

Might be... I don't remember and honestly that doesn't sound familiar, but it dies come close to the MSI I kept using (and being corrected about)...

Is there such a "mode" defined in the Windiws os?

Ha!

Finally got this working again...

The obvious simple fix... Though i'm a bit nervous which shortcuts i created/modified that i'm not remembering...

I expirted/saved my shortcuts then reloaded the default sonar shortcuts... I added a couple i knew i created and the n key is now correctly enabling/disabling snap within the PRV!

At last!

Thanks for sticking with me on this... I had verified the snap settings to be correct before doing this so it never seemed necessary...?

Keni - Was it this post that gave you the answer? If so, consider marking it "Helpful." After I saw the title said "Solved" I had to read this entire thread to find the solution.

Also, what's the deal in Willits that you have to wait for "generator time?"

Done!

Thanks Larry... for pointing that out... I did try this before but it didn't change that time?

Generator time reflects my current state of poverty... Not the city of Willits... I'm broke and my wirk has totally evapirated... So hoping i don't lose my house, doing my best to seek more work and survive. I use a borrowed generator (mine is too noisy) for a few hours/day fir some chores and music...

Thanks Larry...

...but I don't feel much like a hero. A few albums back I released an album which I named "Coming Soon - The Has Been Who Never Was" and to this day I still feel so...

I'm just too stupid to lay down and die!
