Lexicon Alpha V2.0

Hi,
I have recently been gifted a Lexicon Alpha v2.0 interface. My friend bought it but never used it as after he bought it he heard all sorts of horror stories about it being rubbish, unreliable with distortion galore. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and can see no trace of this. It seems reliable enough for something at that price point and it sounds OK to me. Does anyone have any experience with this unit and does it deserve the bad name it seems to have. Granted most of the bad mouthing seems to be on sites like GearS****z but I would be interested to know peoples thoughts.

Cheers

I don't have one, but if it does what you want it to do I wouldn't worry about what others say.

A lot of the time it is drivers.  The hardware is usually the same for similarly priced units.  But bad driver reputation lasts.  I got a TC Konnekt 48 at half price long after they came out and were plagued by bad drivers.  But they had just done new ones and the latency was now acceptable.  Just last year they updated again, and the unit is about as fast as any unit.  Of course, some companies just give up.

I think from my research so far it did have driver issues when it first came out but the latest driver seems pretty tight to me. I can't complain I got it for free so all is good.

Well the acid test is the loop back test. Please try it and then post on my thread ( link below)  if you have time.
I can remember a few negative threads about Lexicon drivers but it's been a while. I have a Lexicon MX 200 Effects unit that is USB and is supposed to work as a plug in but it's not supported since XP 32 bit it seems. I gave up and just use it normally as hardware.
