This sounds great Miss Janet! I haven't been on the forums for a long while, life issues and such things. But I wanted to take the time to say thank you because if it wasn't for you I would have probably just given up on music altogether. You took the time to listen to me and tried to work with me on a song which honestly I was horrible on. You are a very kind person and the world needs more people like you. I just wanted to take the time to say Thank you! Sometimes when you take a time out to work with or help someone you never know how much that really means. I'm slowly getting better at my music now, not really practicing as I should but I guess you might say I am exploring sounds in my own way. Anyway, thank you for being there! God bless you and your family!

Keep on keepin' on!

A new wedding song?

Look, I ussually don't comment on mixes

but whoever is singing needs to be highlighted.

the bass anchors
the strings lend creedence
the piano lay the bed
but

I would love to hear the vocal raw

that's where the message is, and borderline operatic

this kicks

please expose the vocal

pull back the piano

so anyway

do this

I am on my third listen
and just now I am crying
I will need to listen at leat one more time to get it all out of me

I want this to be played at my funeral

hanky please

Thank you, Serious.  You must have looked hard to dig this one out of the cobwebs!  :)  Glad to hear you're doing well!

Thanks, Jesse.  Great ideas.  I don't have (or take) much time with music anymore, sadly, but I might look at this one again.  Yes, the singer is fantastic.  He used to post on here all the time.  Anyway, I posted my instrumental and that inspired him to write and sing the lyrics, which I also love.  Glad you enjoyed it.  But don't cry. :)

I know this is late in the game, but I have a crit.

First, everything about this is beautiful. The music and even the aged tone of the vocalist; his tenderness, almost kenny rodgers before he started to lose connection in his cords.

There is ONE problem with this song that makes it not a "righteous brothers-esque" tune that it could be. The melody and words are fine, but the cadence of the singer fights, not complements, the groove of the tune...so he stands apart from it, noticeably. Which makes the track feel cheaper than it really is. It's truly stellar, but it's like he's singing to a rhythm that isn't in the song. It's not that it's "out of time" per se, but that it doesn't contribute to the groove so that the whole thing feels like one complete voice, sound, chorus, etc. Cadence is an exceptionally hard thing to get correct in a song and it's usually where I fall down too - I get attached to my words...

One other thing that I think would increase its softness and sentiment is having a female harmony at parts. That's my two cents. What I'm talking about is taking a good song and making it great. So, it's not a lot of distance to cover, but it's often the hardest fought ground there is in an artistic creation.

Hi Mark.  Good to see you again too.  Hope you're doing well!

Thanks Joshua.  All very good points!  Like I said above, this started as an instrumental, then Robby got inspired to write and sing lyrics, so I let him.  To do it right, I should have started all over with his vocals.  But I didn't.  And I probably won't for a very long time, if ever.  But just in case, I do appreciate the ideas!  Thanks!

I don't get the "Must have to had DIG" comment at all? I didn't pull up and old post, while it might be OLD to some, it was brand new to me.

I just come back to the forums and checked out your song and thought that I should say THANK YOU for being kind to me many years ago and for being an inspiration to me to continue playing music.

Thank you!

Sorry to hear that you are no longer playing or posting songs, or at least I guess that's what you mean by that comment?  Enjoyed hearing it either way and thank you once again for your support.

God bless and take care!
