Someone here had a suggestion for screen cap software that could record ASIO

Hmmm... I installed Bandicam with the idea that I could record the faders and knobs moving in a VSTi window.
 
It doesn't work.
 
All I get is a video with the image frozen... no movements.
 
So I tried just the Console view, while the song was playing.
 
It just captures a video of the Console view frozen in time.
 
I'm going to look for something else...
 

You can splice it, and I've done that, I was just looking for solutions that are less effort :). I have a video editor, Vegas 13 Pro, so no issues, it just takes a bit more effort to manually sync up the separate audio and video.

There are programs that do both the motion screen capture and voice, but they don't use ASIO for the audio. All use windows type drivers. Voicemeeter is a great way to get ASIO into the mix, literally.

Although, if you're not actually monitoring It may not be an issue using WDM drivers.

Vegas and sync. Have done this also for some years now and get the quality end point needed quickly. Just takes a few trials to visually and soundwise get into the mode of being able to sync files. First time took about a half hour of confusion and frustration wandering away from the overlap. After a dozen projects later, can zero in and sync in about a minute. Was a learning process to know what I was seeing for and listening for.
 
Mainly ignorant out here in the bush, so if there really is a screen capture allowing ASIO integration of Sonar into capture, would appreciate the recommendation. Til then, my best efforts are with film and sync. Limiting factors are the resolution of the filming and skills of the filmer. Audio pristine presentation is a no brainer once the crystal mic in the camera is replaced.

I use the capture software that came with Corel video studio. It will capture my mic input, but it doesn't capture Sonar's outputs. To work around this I use Mrecorder from Melda productions. i just slap it on the master bus, turn on the screen capture and Mrecorder and go. After I'm done I sync them up, which is easy because all I have to do is match the voice from the capture software to the voice from Mrecorder. Only takes about 2 min. Yes I did it using Corel video studio. It has an easy to use video capture program and afterwards I just tale the wav file I made using Mrecorder(which is free) and add that to Video studio. From there it's just a matter of syncing the voices and then muting the video. It would be nice if there were a way to record the DAWs output directly, but I don't know if a good way that doesn't involve syncing afterwards. Luckily the syncing is easy once you get the hang of it.

 
 
I haven't used it but I believe the video tools in Sonar are all about syncing up audio with 'nudge' etc and possibly other smarts to sync up markers(?)

For clarity which may be getting blurred a bit above - there are 3 aspects:
 
1. Screen Capture / Video Recording (Single source and/or non-ASIO (e.g, MME/WDM) Audio)
2. Audio capture from Multiple source / ASIO devices (+ MME/WDM)
3. Video / Audio Editting
 
Corel Video Studio likely covers 1 & 3 - but possibly not 2 (?) (although it likely handles Single / MME/WDM devices).
 
Voicemeeter and MRecorder - squarely fit into 2.
 
BandiCam, LiteCam, Hypercam  - are likely just 1.
 
Hitfilm Express 2 is likely just 3 - ($5 - http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3230932)
 
Sonar - may be just the Audio of 3 - perhaps it includes snips/fades of the video too?

[Update]: Ahhh - do your homework/demo ... looks quite good but Vendor site suggests it might just be for static screen grabs ... and yet sharewareonsale is written ambiguously suggesting able to capture and record anything on screen including videos ... but that could mean a static screen cap(?).
