I got my Triple Play for $240 and jumped on it.

I walked out of a Marz(?) close out with 2 DA38's, a Sony CDR, several rack pieces, a bunch of expensive snakes(db25) for $10@, a Baby Bottle and another mic(?), and a Auralex Roominator kit and some other stuff for less than $800, if I remember correctly. It was a huge buzz! I had to get help to load the car, and it was a very long happy drive (95 miles) back from Grand Rapids. I was exhausted when I got home late and yet, I was too excited to sleep.
I could use another deal like that! LOL

I bought a Roland Studio Pack and Sonar 1 during the Mars Closeout sale.

The Tripleplay got here a couple of days ago.  SampleTank is a PITA, but I finally got it working.  I can tell already I'm gonna love this.

The 64 bit version is crashing during VST scan.  I think I need to go thru all of my vstplug folders and make sure there isn't any 32/64 bit cross contamination :)

I might just have to pick up Komplete this fall

Is the Sampletank you get still the old SampleTank2 that is 32 bit only? I got my TriplePlay a bit more than a year and a half ago and Sampletank always crashed so I just uninstalled it. No TriplePlay related crashes since.

It's Bass, not Bass.

Yes, 2.5 something.  Standalone I have to use 32 bit TP to use ST.  Inside of Sonar, I haven't bothered to figure out how to have both 64 and 32 bit versions of TP available so I can use ST ... Right now I have the 64-bit TP pointed to RapPro, Rap, DimPro and Kontakt along with Ragnarork and the SIs.
Lots more to figure out.  Like how to use it without the TP plugin for generic use.  With TTS would be nice.

Komplete will prolly be picked this fall once I'm really, really sure about this thing.

Re: Fishman Tripleplay 2015/06/04 12:55:34 (permalink)
My understanding of the technology for this software, as well as for the Triple Play, is that they have to determine what note or notes were played, and that it needed at least 1 vibration to analyze to determine that.

So, that means that different strings and different frets will vibrate at different speeds, which then means that higher notes will be analyzed faster than low notes on lower strings.

I would think then that there would be some practical limitations to how fast one could actually play without playing too fast for it to respond.

Another issue would seem to me to be in how to control false-detection, while allowing for subtle nuance.

The above are speculation on my part, as it has been quite a long while since I played around on any sort of midi guitar setup, but I DO recall both of the above issues being present on whatever unit I had messed around with.  Perhaps those issues have been successfully resolved, I am primarily a keyboard player so I am not up to date on current levels of this technology.

It would be pretty cool if these new devices would really work at a professional level.

the TriplePlay will track as fast as I can play. Once you get the set up right it tracks remarkably well.
Just load TTS and pick up your guitar.  I never open the software up. As long as it shows up in your SONAR midi list you are done. It acts like any other midi keyboard. Get your channels the way you want them and enable sound on the track you want. If you do get strange crashes, look to that 32 bit SampleTank first. For me it is not worth having installed but I hope it doesn't cause you any problems.

How do you get smooth bends without the TP software?  That's really the only thing I need to figure out
