The most annoying thing with the (current) CCC is that after you've updated 1 package, it then scans through the entire lot again before you can update another.

I hope this aspect is improved in the next incarnation

That's the second most annoying thing. The first most annoying thing is that it doesn't even just get on with it and do the scan itself. It waits for you click the only thing you can click - there are no other options - and then it does the scan.

Totally agreed. Fortunately Willy has us covered: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Cakewalk-Command-Center-11-Update-Feedback-m3213876.aspx

Specifically the part about "User-defined update check interval'. Confirmed 75,005% faster loading*.

Me too Jonesey, but there's more yellow lights than documented updates so I'm not sure what I want to download. Can't wait for improvements to the CCC.

You can just do the documented updates for now...

SONAR Core
Platinum Instrument Collection
Anderton Collection
Drum Replacer (which is not mentioned in the eZine, sorry)

...and download the other ones when the new CCC appears. Or you can download them over time, like when you take a break or whatever. Probably makes sense to do that before the new CCC appears so they're compatible with it out of the chute.

Definitely makes more sense to do the updates prior to the Cakewalk Command Center update for compatibility purposes. If you don't, nothing will break, but if you want an accurate reflection of "what is installed" this is the best thing to do. Ultimately one of or goals with updating all of the content with this release was in preparation for some Command Center updates. Essentially the coming update is much smarter about handling what is installed, what isn't installed, and what is or isn't up to date. This required installer changes as well though, hence all of the yellow lights everyone is seeing today.

As Craig mentioned though, the core functionality changes are outlined by the eZine.  If a yellow light on "D-Pro" doesn't bother you then you can easily ignore it.

Edit for clarification

I just have to say it not only loses track of what's installed when you log off, it loses track of what's installed for EVERY STEP...It's like an old man with the blinker on...

Does anyone know whether the new upsampling option for plugs-in will benefit any of the plugs that come bundled with Sonar (present or past)? The pdf warns that not all are improved, but says nothing at all about any specific cases.

The feature is too new to list specific cases, it hasn't been out in the world long enough to accumulate a knowledge base. I'm sure a list will develop over time. I suggest monitoring the Upsamping thread as that already has some comments (although now another thread has been started on the same subject so you have to monitor two threads unless I merge them).

The first 3 books in "The Musician's Guide to Home Recording" series are available from Hal Leonard and http://www.reverb.com. Listen to my music on http://www.YouTube.com/thecraiganderton, and visit http://www.craiganderton.com. Thanks!
