Thanks Mesh. I opened Run then services.msc then I changed some, I hope I didn't make a mess. I was actually trying to stop Spotify from a delayed start but it was not listed there. I found a better solution in the Spotify preferences, It won't start at all unless I start it. perfect!
Now I'm off to see if I can make windows updates manual on W-10...

Thanks

Well, it seems that MS does not want anyone messing with automatic updates. It is no longer in the control panel. I did a search and there are two ways to change it. The first, I know nothing about, the second involves adding a registry key. I may do that but I wonder... does anyone think it is something I need to be concerned about. I don't want some update downloading, especially something optional that I don't want while I am doing something in Sonar, if it might cause problems. In any case I am not as concerned with this laptop but when and if I put W-10 on my DAW I don't want MS adding things that Jim didn't install. I checked and Silverlight is not on it, so I hid an optional update. I don't do Skype so I don't want those updates. There are other things I don't want updated. Do you have any experience with this or thoughts on it? Am I worrying over nothing? I really don't like updates being forced on me without my approval or the time of my choosing. Then again, I disable WIFI when I run Sonar so I guess updating during a session wouldn't be a problem but still I want to choose. This bothers me even if it isn't a problem, I like to make my own decisions...

From a further link: "But in the latest Windows 10 operating system, Microsoft has removed the ability to disable or change Windows Update download behavior. In Windows 10, all updates are automatically downloaded and installed without notifying the user. Although its not a problem as Windows updates are helpful for the OS but sometimes a faulty device driver might get installed via Windows Update which may cause your computer not bootable. Sometimes a few Windows updates may also cause system problems. So many Windows users want to disable Windows updates."

I wish that I were more tech savvy. This bothers me but I'm not comfortable making the changes. What I want it to go back to manual updates. I'll keep reading and will post a follow up if anyone cares. I guess I should check in the Computers forum huh... I guess I feel sort of violated but then I am sure that MS is just watching out for me with my best interest in mind... roight... lol.

BTW, my up/down buttons and my pg up/pg dn buttons seem to be working in both IE and Edge now but my favorites are still all out of order in Edge. Does anyone know a way to copy favorites from IE, and import them IN ORDER into Edge or any other browser? That is one of the main reasons why I never warmed up to Firefox or any other browser... I don't like looking for things. I want them to be where I put them and I took time to place things in my IE favorites, in folders and in order the way I want them, not any logical way but, in my way.

Thanks

Possibly this (for Win 10 Pro & Enterprise Only): http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/8013-windows-update-automatic-updates-enable-disable-windows-10-a.html

There are 4 possible ways to do this:
  • Option One: To Enable or Disable Automatic Updates using Group Policy
  • Option Two: To Enable or Disable Automatic Updates using a REG file
  • Option Three: To Enable or Disable Automatic Updates using Metered Network Connection
  • Option Four: To Enable or Disable Automatic Updates by Enabling or Disabling Windows Update service
