If you're interested in learning some of Django's solos then an old mate of mine from school (who I haven't seen since school, I might add....I came across these by accident!) is a leading authority on his playing and has transcribed a ton of it. He has a book out but you can download some of his transcriptions for free here:

Gosh .. these and Egberto Gismonti's in his early days ... I don't see that anyone will ever try to play that ... even tougher when he plays these things on his own built guitars.

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

Wow, there's certainly a lot of work gone into putting those together.

And I doubt I can play as fluidly, quickly, and accurately as Django with all my fingers.

It's incredible watching footage of him playing and how he frets. For obvious reasons, I guess he was unable to use orthodox one-finger-per-fret positions that are supposed to make playing more straightforward for those of us with the regulation number of fingers.

Having said that, one of my all-time favourite listens is my 2CD album of tunes by Stephane Grapelli and Django Reinhardt.

Is the album called 18 fingers?
