How to Run Cakewalk with Highest Priority in Windows 10
Cakewalk is sluggish. I have 8GB of ram and a quad core 64bit but Cakewalk takes a few seconds to display that it is playing even if i am using it steady. I have a radeon HD 6800 series graphics card. (cost me over 500 dollars) This seems to have become more noticeable right before the last update. I have a roland quad capture AI and the drivers do not have one for windows 10 but it seems to work alright. Maybe it is because I am working with an older cakewalk song file but this is terrible almost not workable. I am only currently running melodyne on a single track and fab filter on my master bus track. Ever since i moved from windows seven my cakewalk seems to never be "awake". I go to Facebook or another app and when i come back to cakewalk it is dead and takes 5 or more seconds to even respond. I hit play and the music plays but the graphics are not there for a few seconds. The prog says not responding then it finally comes out of it. I have my AI latency set high so it is not that. Thanks in advance.

I am not saying there is not a problem, but is there a problem? Several seconds of nonresponsiveness when a program is opened does not seem to be unworkable to me. Of course I come from a time when the hardware would not support more than a few tracks without freezing, but still even in today's modern world of the future you seem to be expecting more snap than you really need. One obvious suggestion is do not run anything except Sonar if you want Sonar to be the top gun.

Try a SSD. It solved all of my speed issues. I still have the projects and content on a normal drive so the song takes a bit longer to load, but everything else chugs right along.

Yup go and invest in an SSD. Did you do a clean Windows 10 install? If you merely upgraded you could be suffering from a variety of issues. Generally a clean install is best if you value performance (format hard drive, start again). BTW an expensive graphics card won't improve your performance much, just better resolutions and deathmatch games... Cheers...
