They probably think I'm strange because I like eggs and corned beef hash for breakfast.

I LOVE corned beef hash.  I couldn't get enough of the stuff in chow halls.

No, that's not why.

(Actually Tim, you're a lot closer to "boringly normal", but that was too good of a setup line to waste...  )

Just to be clear, I make fun of Canadians and Canadian-Americans all the time. Myself and my stupid accent included.

This whole PC thing is suffocating, and I think the people behind it are actually the biggest, most discriminating bigots and bullies. They see discrimination everywhere and in everything because they see opportunities to discriminate and assume the worst.

They assume that you cannot acknowledge differences without discriminating.

I tried gluten free, I really did. The Foods for Life flax bread is pretty good but the texture just got to me after a while. I now try to not eat much bread and have gone the Pepperidge Farms Ancient Grains bread, it has gluten as did the FOL bread but the FOL is made with no flour but with sprouted grains that have things that help you process gluten.
I just missed my Nathan's hot dogs (with slaw). I've cut back more on potatoes and sugar in general. If you don't have a sensitivity and use moderation, you'll generally be fine. Less refined foods and less sugar. Don't eat biscuits every morning, just common sense. I've lost weight and feel better... but I just cannot go "all in" on any diet unless I have some condition that absolutely makes me, life is hard enough already. Enjoying food makes life better.
My cat pretty much eats meat and it seems to work well for her. Owsley Stanley was on a meat only diet for decades and was healthy until he ran off the road and wrecked his car.

Do what you have to do if your sick, try to enjoy life and not get sick but life IS short... enjoy it if you can.

I think the problem with most health fads is that people take something that is actually quite healthy and blow it up into a SUPER MIRACLE OMG THIS THING WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE kind of thing which spoils it.

Look at goji berries. A few years ago they were the new big thing (i.e. Madonna was eating them). And if you Googled goji berries then you were bombarded with links to shady looking websites selling goji juice at stupid prices, usually with some ridiculous blurb about how people in the Himalayas eat them and live to 150 years old because of some unique miracle polysaccharides (and a zillion times more antioxidants than anything else on the planet). These sites often feature a long list of ailments and conditions that this miracle berry is supposed to help with. But the truth is they're not a miracle food at all, they're just berries. Definitely healthy - they contain useful amounts of antioxidants and beta carotene, but there's nothing in them that you can't get from other foods. I eat them and really like the taste. But I wonder how many people are put off by the nonsensical hype.

I know a guy that finds gluten to be a serious matter. Just a few stray crumbs and this guy was ill for hours or days. Most of us don't suffer from anything near this level of sensitivity. Avoiding gluten is one of  many things that provide benefits for some people, but not the general population. People in remote areas that live a long time probably do so because it's hard for them to get a Big Mac and GMO's.

Ooops. GMO's, aren't they the things that are making people gluten sensitive and allergic to peanuts?

@Rain, Good one.

So, the basic problem is that some people are just too sensitive, ya?
