Markers are too small to see while recording. Suggest color bands on all tracks.

I tried using Markers to let me know when I hit a chorus and found them so dinky and hard to see against the DAWs background that they were useless. To get around this, I inserted a midi track, and chose a bright yellow for the track, then using my midi keyboard, I hit a sustained piano chord. On playback, I disabled the output and shrunk the track down. Now I at least can see clearly a bright yellow bar when the chorus comes around.

But, how much easier would it be if Sonar provided a 'Highlight The Track' function with at least a brighter background so you could highlight the areas that need it. Preferably, you could do so across all tracks, and possibly use more than one color, therby highlighting choruses with blue, instrumental breaks with red, etc, etc...

Also I would like to add :
We should be able to set different colors of the region between two markers, so when the marker goes out of the as the timeline moves we should be able to understand where are we.
Not a new feature - we need just some enhancement.

I have suggested something like this. My proposal involves a customisable timeline ruler:

    Yes Kev.. Exactly.
But I wonder one thing : You posted that in Oct - Does Cakewalk really listen to the users?

Perhaps hovering the mouse over a marker could toss up a balloon with the marker displayed larger?

I did vote for the above suggestions - I have always had GREAT trouble viewing the markers, and I DO rely on them very very much.

I think Big Time view could be made in such a way to monitor clearly movement of the markers. There so much space we could put longer markers name and watch them coming.

I'll have to think about the ideas regarding implementing such a feature, but I would love to have the markers larger to be easier to read....

As far as colors? I don't think I'd mind something subtle, but for me it's more about legibility than eye-locating...

I think what you really want is an arranger track which I think has been requested in the feature request forum before (and maybe on the menu for the bakers this year - or I may be imagining that.)

Not what I'm looking for as far as this topic/thread is concerned...

My eyesight has gotten worse with age and I have trouble reading the names of the markers on the timeline... I use a 30" monitor at 2560 resolution, so the timeline is quite small...

Keni, my reply was more for the OP.  I have a hard time reading the markers now as well (although I only have 20" monitors.)

    Thanks Dave...

I suspected that as I wrote it but thought... What the heck! :-)

Sorry for the distraction.... My thoughts were slower than my actions...

Monitor size isn't the final critical element though... It's the chosen resolution on the size monitor, eh? The struggle to have more on screen yet large enough to read! ;-)

    I hear you Keni.

I was thinking more about this - if there was a box, like the M:B:T or timecode box that displayed either the marker that had just passed or the marker that was upcoming (user selectable)  I think that would be really cool.

    Yes!

I was thinking we really don't need two time displays.... Maybe one of them could have Markers as a user selectable option added to it's current time line options?

I'd be happy if Sonar just handled the Markers track the way that PT does - assign a different color to each section that is separated by markers (e.g., see Intro, Verse 1, and Chorus below).  Not sure how/if that differs from what the OP is requesting.

I posted this approach a year ago and it works for me:
    http://forum.cakewalk.com/Using-tracks-for-song-arrangement-info-and-markers-m3224655.aspx

However I would like to see it baked into the product rather than having to use my workaround.

Interesting idea... I don't yet know if I like it or not so I endorse with a touch of reserve... Make it easy to enable/disable the color...

It makes it easier to see the boundaries for sure, but at my resolution, reading the marker's name would still be an issue...

Bumping this thread to throw my support behind Snehankur's suggestion. I'd love to see Cakewalk adopt color bands/regions between markers similar to Pro Tools' implementation, as cryophonik showed (pictured below). It would be very helpful, and a cumulative time-saver.
