iPad/Remote Desktop/Touch Screen
The Apple App Store has a Remote Desktop app that lets you connect to a Windows Desktop as a remote desktop and run anything, including (to get to the point) Sonar. This obviously should let you drive Sonar with the iPad's touch screen (maybe multiple touch rather than a single one like a mouse) over WiFi, I assume. Has anyone tried this? I would get an iPad for any number of reasons, but if it's effectively a control surface for Sonar with possibly multiple fingers on faders (as an example) I'd get one. You don't need any special apps on the iPad to do this, just the Remote Desktop app that lets you drive anything on the Windows box. You need Windows Professional AFAIK, so Home users would need an upgrade.

My view on this, if the apps needs WIFI - it's clashes with the regular step to turn it off to prevent cpu spike.

Hi Phil. There are many threads on using remote and mirroring apps to control Sonar. Team viewer seems to be a popular choice: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Remote-control-of-Sonar-with-Team-Viewer-m3385058.aspx tomixornot My view on this, if the apps needs WIFI - it's clashes with the regular step to turn it off to prevent cpu spike.
In my experience this has become a non issue Albert. I run dedicated offline wireless routers in both the studio and the back of my stage racks for live performance to run remote apps for Sonar (Lemur) and various other wireless enabled devices and programs in my system without any problems. That said, I do prefer to use specific remote apps for particular programs/ devices rather than desktop mirroring, which I find a little clunky.

Thanks Bruce, for pointing that out. WIFI is such common now that having it to be turned off do seems cutting out many possibilities.

TeamViewer seems interesting but the Microsoft Remote Desktop does only Windows and may be more Windows friendly because of that. I'm very familiar with it from using it on laptops to control remote systems, and that's why I was wondering if anyone was using it on an iPad with Sonar. Specifically, I suspect it may do multiple touch (two fingers on two sliders at once) which TV doesn't seem to do. So I'm not really asking how to do remote control - I'm looking for anyone with experience of Microsoft Remote Desktop on iPad running Sonar and (say) sliding multiple faders at once.
(Odd that my forum search for iPad didn't return that thread!)

There is a ridiculously small filter drop-down at the top left of the search results page that defaults to something like 30days. Changing that will give you more results. As for remote desktop I will bow out and leave you to await other users as I am of no help. As I mentioned I prefer to control Sonar using dedicated apps rather than remote desktop. FWIW, using Lemur to control Sonar, I could move 9 faders and 15 buttons at once given the inclination and freakishly gifted genetic disposition.
