Sonar Platiinum will not install on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
I have tried several times to install the latest build of Sonar Platinum (2016.06) on a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Every time I do, the installation stops and just hangs with no error message. I have all my drivers configured and tested and everything is running correctly. Here is my hardware configuration. ASUS motherboard M3A32-MVP-MVP Deluxe 8 GB RAM Western Digital SATA 1 TB Hard Drive (system drive) Marvell RAID drive configured to RAID 0 External Seagate SATA drive in a USB 3.0 enclosure 2 Western Digital My Book external drives (one on the USB 3.0 port and one on a secondary firewire port) that I use to store system images) PCIe USB 3.0 expansion card 2 port Mackie Onyx Blackbird Roland UM-One USB MIDI controller OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 with all updates installed. When I download Cakewalk Command Center and try to install Sonar Platinum, like I said it just hangs. I have to open task manager and stop the applications from there. When I do, it appears to corrupt my system. I've tried installing it after clearing the check mark on indexing that didn't work. I tried to install it with indexing on and that didn't work. Right now I'm at Windows defaults. If someone else has had this problem, I would love to know how you can fix it. I had installed it before and on the Windows 10 pro upgrade and it was working well until something updated and Sonar Platinum no longer worked correctly as I lost some of the functions of the Mackie Onyx Blackbird. I started getting audio dropouts and the software became unstable. I could no longer record off the right channel in mono, only the left. There were so many errors, I decided to just start from scratch and now it won't even install on Windows 7 Ultimate on a clean install.

IS there a possibility that your raid configuration is messing with the installer? That's the only thing I can see that would be different from most people's systems.

Maybe corrupt downloads? Re-download CC, install (Run as Admin), reboot, then install (again, Run as Admin).

Thanks I had already done all of that and it did not work. I am in the process of going back to the Windows 10 Pro upgrade from a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate. Although, I thought I would be good at just installing Sonar Platinum on a new system, I've heard that that won't work either as I only subscribe to rolling updates. Since this is a clean install I would need to either buy Sonar Platinum for life or buy buy it outright for the same price of $199.00. I guess all this time I paid for rolling updates just doesn't count.

I have the same Cakewalk license and the full range of products I have, which includes Sonar Platinum, Rapture Pro, a bunch of ProChannel extras. AAS Gouged Lizard, and whatever else - ALL installed on 3 separate desktops, and simply downloaded Cakewalk Command Center and everything installed just fine. I do not believe your rolling update licensing will affect installing everything onto your other computer, for the same reason it did not affect my installations on 3 computers. (I DO only run a single computer at a time, and just happen to have 3 separate computers, so I don't have to move things around to record at home, the studio, or the church). Also, 2 of my computers use the exact same CPU that you are using on that computer, so unless there is some motherboard conflict - video - audio - whatever, the CPU shouldn't be an issue for you, as it isn't for me. (I actually have one more of that same CPU sitting in a box, waiting to be used at some point). It gives me good performance and a great price, plus I got bundled motherboards for either free or I believe one of them was $20 more for better USB 3 ports and such. My 3rd computer is running with an Intel i7 2600K processor, and that one is awesome - 4 years old and running like a champ. 2 of the 3 computers run with 32 GB and one has 16 GB. NONE are configured to use RAID. I just run backups to a 6 TB external USB 3 drive every week, and anytime I work on an existing project, I place a local backup on a separate internal drive, so the most I will lose is any work done between a weekly backup and the point a drive fails. I hope that helps, Bob Bone
