I'd be careful creating new Prochannel offerings based on existing VST's, unless they are competitively priced.  A lot of users use more than one DAW.  Given that, VST versions of plugins are arguably more valuable than Prochannel components, because the VST's can be used in multiple DAW's.  To me, any existing VST's ported to Prochannel format would have to be cheaper than their VST counterparts, or otherwise be usable as standalone VST's in addition to use as Prochannel components.

Tangled roots perplex her ways.

Hi Tim

Currently I'm quite happy to insert whatever VST I need into the PC via an FX Chain.
This gives me all the flexibility I need and comes with the added bonus of separate sliders for IO volume/gain, and you can of course add as many vst's into a FX Chain as you like, all collapsed to a minimised state by a single click

I just tried this. It may be my new favorite thing. I hate to admit that I missed that feature in all of my hacking around in the program. No flyout screen, but pretty cool.
I've built FX chains, just not in the PC panel.

Dell Precision T5400, 2 Xeon E5420 CPUs, 32 GB ram, 1 X 750 GB HDD, 2 X 1TB HDD, Nvidia GTX750 , M-Audio 1010LT, Roland GR-55, Novation SL MKII 49 , Arturia MiniLab, Arturia Spark Creative Drum Controller, '77 Gibson Les Paul Artistan, Epiphone Les Paul Studio w/ GK-3, Fender Stratocaster, Dean Exotica Acoustic, Cakewalk Sonar Platinum Lifetime, Arturia  Synths galore!, Cakewalk Synths galore!, M-Audio BX-5a monitors, a couple of cheap mikes, a dubious quality desk, several shady characters hanging in the studio, etc....

I want one way of using VST's. I don't want to have to open Pro Channel to see if there are "hidden" VSTs.

I don't hate ProChannel. I like it, actually, but I agree with that. As it stands, the ProChannel is just another FX bin with a fancier dressing. It'd be nice to see some more focus there. Focus the ProChannel to be more analogous to an actual channel strip like it really wants to, and then merge it with the FX bin so that it basically becomes a single place for processing on a track.

Then, it would be nice to expand it back out into a truly modular channel strip with fully customizable signal flow and just completely eliminate pre/post anything, because it'd be obvious at a glance. Like, moving the pan/fader, separate sends or gain control in the signal chain.

Most of my ProChannels come in both formats, that's not an issue.

I beleive the BLue Tubes Plugs that came with Sonar are tied to Sonar, or are they not? I only have this DAW.
