Improvement on the first mix - still loving the song.
Minor crit (sorry didn't spot this first time) - main vocal maybe a tad too quiet.
The first word in the song gets drowned out and most of it I found myself straining to hear your voice.
Great stuff though Kevin

Nicely tracked and mixed Kevin, and you must be pleased with the result.

I used to love recording the band I was in, some years ago, and band that was made up of lads who were mates of my eldest son. So much fun working out how to get stuff onto disk. I've since dismantled my multi-track studio because I'd left the band I was in and the other band kind of split up and I even gave up music for a couple of years.

Now that I'm back into it, I do everything on my laptop. I've got a couple of hardware synths but they have been retired, again... So most of my material is soft synth based with a touch of guitar (when I can be bothered). A shame really, because guitar is supposed to be my main instrument, but I have never put in the time to become proficient.

I've got a Gibson SG Special (the cheap one) because I've always been a fan of the shape.

My pride and joy though, even if I can't play it very well, is a PRS Studio. I certainly don't deserve it LOL!

I use Guitar Rig too. I even use it quite often on synths as well as guitar...

Cheers Kevin, see you around,

andy

Thanks, Daryl, yeah I juiced it up after hearing some feedback, but I thought I went to far and backed it down again. I hate using automation but it looks like I should probably bust out that tool. Thanks for listening!

I'm satisfied with the mix for now, but I need a few months away from it to achieve true happiness. Ha. As if.

I love the sound of an SG. One of the guys in my old band had one of those and the tones he gets out of that thing send chills up my spine. Classic rock sound. I am not familiar with the PRS, can you point me to a tune or two that has it's signature sound?

Guitar Rig makes doing all this possible for me. To my ear it's a bit harsh and somewhat digital compared to a mic'ed amp but there's just no way I can get away with using real amps in my office. The neighbors would be out with pitchforks. I'm liking the tones of TH3 these days, it's smoother and fuller to me, but I haven't done any recording with it yet.

Thanks for listening and spending the time yakking about gear!

Kevin, I think the PRS is Carlos Santana's guitar of choice. I believe there's even a signature model. Probably anything of his from the last 15 years would have that guitar on it. I was working at Guitar Center in the 80s when our store started carrying them. The first ones I saw were $1800 back then. By the time I thought had enough money to go make an offer on one (late 90s, no longer working there), they were $3500. So I bought a Japanese Schecter Blackjack instead.

Well, ya can't get much more signature than Santana. Wow. The prices of quality instruments today just floors me. I was choking a little when I bought my Pbass for $850, or the Epi Sheraton II at around $600 when I bought it. My pbass is the American Special model that they made for a short while, great bass for a really decent price. I think those are made in China now. Does that Schecter sound similar to the PRS?

Thanks, Larry!

Dam*ed if I know, Kevin. But it sounds good to me. It came with two Seymour Duncan humbuckers and it's a massive body with a neck-through design, and it looks bada$$. I played about 25 guitars when I was shopping for this one eight years ago, so there must have been something I liked about the sound.

PS: If they're still making them they should be around $700.

Kevin,

I love the low-down dual guitar drone driving this number. Nice mesh, there, with bass and drums. Major groove. Vocals are a bit muffled and probably need to cut through a little bit more,  but please don't boost them at the expense of the muscular GTR.

Real good stuff, and not totally unexpected,

Cheers,

Bert

I like this song, great psychedelic country rocker. I love how the two guitar riffs dovetail together, that's excellent. Strangely I got a hint of Justin Hayward from the Moody Blues in your playing style. Very cool stuff.

Well, I hope  you win a ton of money, Bert! I'd love to hear some ideas on how to clarify the vocals more. Seems like I always have this problem. Part of it of course is that my voice is getting more ragged with age, and I really have to choose my times of the day carefully to get half-way decent vocals. So if anyone has any ideas to offer, I'm all ears.

Thanks for the kind words, Bert, I appreciate your chiming in!

song sounds 95% great.
as others ahve said the kick is lost. either eq in some slap or mix in a sample to give a bit of body.
again lead vocals need a touch of upper mid eq or shelving the guitars a bit in that area to bring them forward.
other than that is awesome, love the BV and guitar work

Nice one!   I really hear that Tom Petty/Steve Miller vibe as mentioned previously.  It's got a great "live in the studio" feel to it that works so well with the song itself.
