Will CCC recognise my computer if I try to re-install Sonar Platinum after a system reset?

I installed Sonar Platinum alongside my old Sonar 8 Producer because I read that it was recommended rather than uninstalling older Sonars. Problem was Platinum wasn't finding Dimension Pro or Rapture Pro, it was finding my OLD Dim Pro .dll and trying to run that and not finding Rapture Pro or my old Rapture at all. Use of Dimension Pro (my old .dll file, it wasn't even listed in the VSTs, it was listed as 'Dimension Pro x64' under 'other' or 'misc' or something!) was freezing the computer. In short, the computer is only 3 months old and there are multiple copies of these VSTs in multiple places, some of them seeming weird to me, so I'd like to reset the computer and start from scratch: uninstall Sonar Platinum, reset, and reinstall. Will the CCC (Cakewalk Command Centre) know I'm trying to install on the same computer? Or will it think I'm trying to install on a 2nd computer when I'm not? I'd really just like a clean install on a clean machine to start with. I just want to be able to load my .sfz and other files and Dim Pro and Rapture are the only ways I've ever done it. That and I want to stick with Cakewalk's VSTs since they're supposed to work and I suspect the dual-installation was a problem (oh, and they have some pretty nice sounds!). Thanks to anyone who can offer any info! New Windows 10 Professional 64-bit machine. I'm sorry, I'm NOT a computer person but I'm trying to learn! -- Stephanie      P.S. I did read about doing a clean install of Dim Pro but I think my problem is 2 installations of it and so I'm not sure that's going to help!

It will work fine.  At the moment, CCC doesn't enforce locking to a particular computer.  You can just re-install CCC, punch in your credentials, and download and install.

Cakewalk currently relies on your honesty regarding how many PCs you install it on.

A clean install is always best, especially when crossing platforms e.g. 32 bit programs and 64 bit applications. Since your computer is only 3 months old, I presume you have Windows 10. (It always helps to list your sysrems specs e.g. Processor, Ram, OS, HDD, etc. when requesting assistance, since every system is different)... Also, which Sonar platform are you using Artist, Studio, Platinum)...

At any rate, you can uninstall the old Dimension Pro and Rapture. The new Rapture will import the old soundbanks and play them.

Always make sure you install vst plugins to the same location. The default location is C:\ Program Files\ Cakewalk\ vst. VST3 plugins are located in C:\ Program Files \ Common Files.

You can delete the redundant vst files and reinstall them if necessary.

Command Center looks for the programs in whatever location you specify in the Settings...

BRuys, Thank you, I will do it then! It's a good time to do it since the computer is so new and all my project files are backed up elsewhere, and it just seems it's the easiest, most reliable fix. Thanks again! -- Stephanie

Thanks to those who answered! I reset my system, downloaded the command centre again, and reinstalled Sonar Platinum. BUT. It's been half the day now downloading and now installing D-Pro. Everything else went quickly, but now the install of D-Pro is just limping along, about 4 hours now. I'm afraid to exit the command centre and retry! Have I done something wrong? I simply hit 'install' the same as all the other goodies. Do I sit and wait or exit and try again? Thanks again, the support in the forums here has been invaluable. :) -- Stephanie
