Oh my, this is a lot of fun. I never spent much time with it before because as was accurately said above, the electrics were not inspiring.

I'm not sure how it happened, but I got two free packs. I got both strings machine and mellotoon. I fired up my current project and quickly laid out a chord progression over it. Then played around with some playing styles in the browser as well as some sound presets. WOW. Settled on Mellotoon Vibes Put the UAD EP-34 and Scheps Parallel particles for giggles and it sounds great.

Then I created a second track with Kontakt on it and located Vocalise. I figured out how to turn on the midi out from EZ Keys and use that to feed Kontakt. Laying that with the Vibes and riding the two faders to control blend and I have something really, really interest...

So glad I stumbled on this thread and I'm grateful for the T+S deal! :)

These are a must if you have EZ Keys. And you don't have to be a dumb guitar player to use EZ Keys. ELi is a better keyboard player than me and he uses it to write and explore some options. These are good vids too.

It is a really fun program. I always enjoy my time with it. I just downloaded the Melotoon yesterday and it sure sounds better that Sample Tron. Toontracks version sound more like an actual instrument and not just the Tron thin recordings. Does anyone who has this have any insight on it?

Same feeling here, BD, a nice step up. Still, maybe GForce has the best one, and the best expansions with the Streetly Tapes series. They also have a Reason version.

Which EZKeys pianos are the best? I recognize that's a matter of taste, but I'm curious if there's a consensus of "THIS is the one to get!"

Which is your choice?

Same here, I like the Grand as well. It's actually quite nice to use on various things.

Quite fond of all TT grands, studio and electric included. Next in line are the Rhodes Mk1 and Mellotoon.

Also, back when I first checked out EZ Keys the only course on Groove3 was EZ Keys Explained, which I didn't find helpful. Those "explained" videos are little more than manuals to me - I want to learn in context. I'm working through the songwriting course now and I like it much better.

Toontrack always has at least 1 super cheap EZ Keys special from BF/CM to Christmas so I would wait until then for the Classic Electrics. That's how I got Electric Grand and the Retro Electrics. (in the Retro Electrics the Clav is a real steamer, but the Pianet is very nice. Worth the $10 or $15 it cost.)

I have  the G-Force (kinda) but I cant find a serial number and I cant find what my email was when I registered it. So I don't really have it. It may have been the first VST I ever bought so I wasn't as careful to back up the back ups, if you know what I mean.

Of course a great deal with EZ keys is the MIDI out so you can use the songwriting features with any VSTi of your choice. Worth bearing in mind if you already have a lot of keyboard sounds.

Exactly what I'm looking forward to! That said, I bought EZ Keys a long time ago but got the electrics and was so uninspired I never dig in. Between the Grand and the String Machines I think I will be plenty inspired.

I bought some 3rd party House midi files and they sound great with it.
