How do I keep SPLAT out of demo mode?

I have SPLAT installed on three machines. Two are laptops that are rarely connected online, one which I try to use in live performance, the other I use to record live with friends way off the grid. None of these are ever used concurrently. (No reason)
With recent updates on a trip recently I updated both laptops so I could use them as intended, updated through command center. I continue to open one or the other and find SPLAT in 'Demo' mode. This requires the pains of finding a wifi spot, open command center online launching from there and the Demo mode goes away . But it always comes back. Is there a way to prevent this? Becoming not worth the inconvience to use at all.

Re: How do I keep SPLAT out of demo mode? July 25, 16 7:02 PM (permalink)
I'm having a similar problem that I posted about recently...

Link text (tried to paste as actual link but it won't stick):  forum.cakewalk.com/Resolved-Sonar-Platinum-stuck-in-Demo-mode-m3160571.aspx

Unfortunately, I have gotten no replies, and also no feedback from my tech support inquiry. So I'm still in workaround mode of having to open Sonar from Command Center.

For ease of finding it, here is the text of the problem:

Re-opening an old thread...

As of last weekend, my SONAR Platinum installation also will only open in demo mode. If I open SONAR from within Command Center, then it opens normally, and I can save, etc.

I don't use SONAR regularly, so unfortunately, I can't pinpoint what might have changed to trigger this. I do keep up with the regular SONAR updates, and download them via Command Center, usually within a couple of weeks of their release.

From reading this thread, it sounds like the issue is on the Cakewalk server side. I did try to use offline activation, which appeared to be successful, but which did not resolve the problem. I'm open to any other ideas.

I did submit a case via SONAR Product Support, but they have not responded to my original request, nor to my follow-up request...

Hi. For the pc that is seldom online, you could do an offline activation.

We had made some fixes in 07 to address this.  Please use the Early Access build, or wait for the official one soon.
Sorry for the trouble.  Having a legit copy demo mode is certainly not acceptable.

07 release did not fix the problem for me. Still end up in demo mode if I launch from the desktop. If I launch from within CC, all ok...

you may be running on a Windows user account that has restricted permissions. This might be a non-administrator account with restrictions on writing/copying files in certain directories. If this is the case, you might want to up the privileges of the account or run as an administrator.

Any aggressive firewall/anti-virus settings could also contribute to the issue. Try temporarily disabling any fireware or anti-virus software to see if Sonar will authorize.

Re: How do I keep SPLAT out of demo mode? July 30, 16 1:20 PM (permalink)
For better or for worse, I haven't upgraded my installation of Sonar Platinum in months, for fear that this issue would befall me as well. At present, I am able to successfully use Sonar Platinum on a PC that is not connected to the internet, without Sonar reverting to demo mode.

My concern is based in my experience with Rapture Pro. I am not sure of this timetable because I did not anticipate problems and therefore did not make notes, but it appears that my version of Rapture Pro worked fine for a brief period after purchase until an upgrade, after which it always reverts to demo mode hours after re-authorization. My problem may ironically coincide (and I'm not sure) with the upgrade that introduced offline authorization.

As a result, it is my suspicion that there is an endemic issue with Cakewalk products that use the current method for authorization. I'm sure that Cakewalk will get it worked out, but it has been a frustrating issue for me for almost half of a year.

Re: How do I keep SPLAT out of demo mode? July 30, 16 1:22 PM (permalink)
I'm already running as an administrator. I tried disabling firewall/anti-virus, but no change.

However, your post made me start thinking about user accounts...

My daughter has her own account on this PC, and she has occasionally used Sonar in the past. So I logged onto her account, and when I launched from the desktop, Sonar came up normally (not demo mode)! So it would appear that there is something that's different between user accounts.

So next, I created a brand new account. When I launched Sonar from the desktop, I got the following error message:

"SONARPLT. The personalization process did not complete! You may have cancelled the copy or your disk may be full. The application may not launch successfully. Please redo the personalization if necessary."

After continuing from the error message, Sonar came up in demo mode. So whatever is wrong with my account is also wrong on a brand new account. Regarding the error message, I'm certainly not short of disk space (~600Gb free) and I didn't cancel anything, so it would seem that maybe something is wrong with the personalization (whatever that is).

I'm running Windows 10 Home.

Any ideas where to go next? I do appreciate the help from this forum (it's now 2 weeks and counting and I have yet to hear back from Cakewalk product support).

Thanks.

- Eric

Please Help, SPLAT running in demo mode. Rollback not working. Running as administrator. Will not launch from CC.
Disabled firewall/anti-virus. Offline authorization doesn't work. Paid for SPLAT. Into my second year of rolling updates. Which have now been canceled as my funds have dried up, BECAUSE I CAN'T WORK OR GET PAID. How do you go about getting a refund? I need to buy some software that works. Tech support seems to have given up on me.
This dodgy company is ruining my business.

Re: How do I keep SPLAT out of demo mode? November 07, 16 7:52 AM (permalink)
Thank you so much for the response, Chuck.
I did pay for Platinum fully in the first year.
The second year I took out the 'Rolling Updates' plan & my membership was valid thru until 1st October 2016.

This is the last message from tech support.

"I'm sorry to hear the rollback did not work as planned. Did you also go through the motions of logging out of Command Center, restarting your computer, logging back into Command Center, and launching SONAR from Command Center? The error code most certainly points to an authorization error that may have been triggered. I'd like to make sure you're going through all of the most basic functions that would reset a timing issue like that. Also, is your computers time/date set to a different time than the Windows automatically sync'd time?

Your current subscription looked like it was canceled, then there was an attempt to renew that was also declined. I've gone ahead and canceled that subscription for now, because honestly it's not needed at all and may be part of what's triggering the demo mode situation. As you already made 12 payments on the first sub it shouldn't be affecting your authorization, but it may have been looking at the newer subscription. If you now attempt to go through the log out/restart/log in/ launch steps again, that may end up giving a positive result".

I have been using Cakewalk for over 15 years without a glitch (long term paying user).

Hi, Larry. Did you try uninstalling using these steps?

And then reinstall. Hope it helps.

And just to confirm... did you roll back to the version that was current when you reached your last valid registration point?   I'm not sure how it works if you try to run a release that's post-final payment.

I am still in demo mode. I have uninstalled using the steps for a clean install.
I have tried rolling back every single version.
I have also tried to renew my rolling updates membership & cannot do that.
My emails to tech support / customer support get no response.
I am so desperate. Surely someone can help.
Please I beg...

I have also tried offline activations for each rollback.
Contacted user groups. Written on the Facebook page.
I have even tried to contact the CTO.
Yes, I have been getting nasty.
I am now heavily sedated.
This is the only way I can cope with sitting here all day week after week trying to get SPLAT to work.
Yes, I have paid for the software in full.
Yes, I have had to refund my client's money.
Yes, I have started shaming your company on social media.
I have nothing left to lose.
Can anyone else suggest methods for getting action from this "company"?

Online through the Cakewalk website.
Have been making monthly payments from the second of January 2015 thru first October 2016.
All transactions are listed in my store activity.
The first 12 months were to buy SPLAT outright, then I took out the monthly rolling updates subscription.

If you sent a message to the CTO. but have been smearing Cakewalk on social media
"getting nasty" as you say. don't expect them to jump to help.

I can understand you being frustrated but Sonar does not often just go in to Demo mode.
There is a reason for that, weather it be a missed payment, stop of payment, exc.

your post 2 comments ago said "I Have been making monthly payments from the second of January 2015 thru first October 2016"

But a few posts before that, you posted a Cakewalk support ticket that read:
Your current subscription looked like it was canceled, then there was an attempt to renew that was also declined. I've gone ahead and canceled that subscription for now.

Just doesn't add up.
I suggest making another attempt at support, create a new ticket.
however like I said, if your causing trouble on their social media pages, they have every right to ignore you.
which im sure they wouldn't but they still have that right.

Re: How do I keep SPLAT out of demo mode? November 15, 16 2:52 PM (permalink)
Yes, of course, I cancelled my rolling updates subscription when my fully paid SPLAT reverted to demo mode.
How could it not add up that I refuse to continue paying for rolling updates when my fully paid SPLAT is unusable?

As of 1 hour ago the support team have unlocked the software & given me a partial refund.
The fault lay with them & they have apologised.

Apologies do not pay my rent.

My "smearing" was simply out of desperation to get some action, it was simply begging for help.
I wonder how others would react when they lose business & cannot feed their family?

The first 20 or so emails were polite. As the weeks go on without a fix & you become hungry, you tend to resort to drastic measures.

My mistake was expecting the software to be reliable. After 15 years of stable use, I obviously had too high expectations.

My "making trouble on social media" was, asking my peers around the world, for solutions as to what they would do in this predicament.

If the company had of acted sooner it would not have come to this.

Just to reiterate. I paid full price for this software and have done for years & years. I do not get paid to bug fix it.

It would be EXTREMELY clear that the rolling update subscription method is flawed.

I suggest you re-read my previous posts, I am sure it will then "add up".

Re: How do I keep SPLAT out of demo mode? November 15, 16 5:04 PM (permalink)
glad its all sorted man .

Hey im sorry it didn't work for you. glad they refunded you and made due.
There is problems with every software out there. not just Sonar.
I use Sonar because the others gave me problems. (pro tools, Cubase)
Sonar is Solid here. as in hours a day solid.

There are 2 routes we can take in a situation like this.
1-We can wait patiently (and use another software in the meantime).
2-Or we can get all worked up and let it effect us, and others.

There's no fun in the second one Larry.
I aint going to pretend like I wouldn't be upset if I were in your shoes. I would be.
But trolling does no good.

What ever you end up doing, good luck man.
