sonar crashes, but not really

Why does sonar still leave processes running when it crashes - this has been a major headache for years now. Granted platinum is much more stable than some previous incarnations but when it crashes it should die surely?? Frequently means having to reboor pc to get rid of the offending process in order to restart.
