Sonar connects with the FirePod, which then sends the audio to the speakers. Since you seem to have a problem with the Pod, not the speakers, we will skip that part.
I image there is a conflict between the Pod and SONAR. The Pod has a sample rate setting in the Pod control pannel. Your SONAR project has to be the same and it sets the bit-depth (16 or 24). Make sure in Options>Audio all the pages are set correctly - including "new project" on the 1st page. Latency should be set on the Pod pannel. Remember, you'll probably have to restart SONAR until you get them synced. That would explain the CPU spike. And you'll find recording and monitoring a much better experience with your new set up over computer speakers.
