BFD3 - separate track outputs

Hi
Can anyone please point me to a guide as to how to set up BFD3 in Sonar Platinum so that the kick, snare, hi-hat etc get routed to separate tracks in SPLAT?

I work like this with AD2, but as I also have BFD3, I'd like to revisit that.

Thanks!

Click on the mixer in BFD3 at the bottom where it says master. You will get a sub menu to select mono or stereo. Clicking on one of those will give you tracks to route to.

Thanks John - I see that option but how do I assign Mono 1, Mono 2 etc to tracks in Sonar?

Insert new audio tracks, select Mono,Mono2 or whatever you set in BFD3 as inputs.

When inserting BFD into your project, you have the option to insert multiple tracks on the fly.

I always do this but you do have to go back afterwards and delete the ones you don't want.

I'm still struggling with this and I apologise for being stupid...can you explain the steps required to do this please?

I don't own BFD, but I broke down the process with AD2. I imagine many of the same steps are the same. May help to take a look.

Kamikaze has provided an excellent resource for configuring multi output drums.

I'm not sure if this was addressed in his post, if it was, apologies, but it's necessary in BFD, after you've created all of your tracks in mono, to change the track interleaves on the Overheads, Room and any other ambient channels back to Stereo.

I had the same issue - read the bottom half of this thread- someone was kind enough to give me a very detailed explanation, which did the trick.  Hope this helps.

Its a good thing this thread was started. While I have not had issues with multi out VSTis I always found BFD3's mixture of mono and stereo outs a little confusing, but its not really, seeing these post made me revisit it and work through creating a proper template for a kit with mono and stereo outs rather than just using stereo.

I am also going to have a go some mono/stereo Superior Drummer templates and see if that improves my mixes.

What are the room and overheads called in the BFD3 mixer? This may seem like a daft question, in which case I apologise, but in the internal mixer, neither "room" or "overheads" are shown. Many thanks.

Look at the mixer in BFD3 to see where they're being routed. In my setup, I believe I have room being routed to 1 stereo, and overhead being routed to 2 stereo. Not sure though. Regardless, just see where they're routed in BFD3 and then set your inputs in Sonar accordingly.

Yes, that's what I thought, thank you. Also, having set up separate outputs, and assigned Mono 1, Mono 2 etc to kick, snare and so on, if I then change the kit, all the outputs revert to Master. Is there a way to stop that happening?

Unfortunately no. The only thing you can do is save each kit with the routing setup you want.

By the way, you'll also most likely want to make and save key maps for every kit you design.
