I didn't know they allowed guys from Sacramento to play LA jazz. You must have snuck in through the back door.

I still think it sounds fantastic. You're a great player. But it's my considered opinion that Fourplay will never let you join the band. I mean, heck, you're from Sacramento.

Hi Charley,
As one that grew up on Jazz Fusion then Smooth Jazz in CA, LOVE THIS!
Soooo slick and your sax work is really fun to listen to.
Yes, Nils did you up!  Glad you made the billboards.
Will be looking for more of your music around.

Would appear the original You tube link is not available to us over this side of the pond.  Fortunately you other link worked.  Some cool playing on this mix works well here thanks for sharing and congrats on the charting.

That sounds freakin' great!   Nice clear mix, great use of space.   But most important, it sounds like you've completely nailed your parts and just have a naturally good tone.  I've played with a few sax players over the years and I think the word I'd use here is "pro".

Congrats!

Thank you, Steve! I appreciate the compliments.

Tone is something that came fairly easily to me. I had to work my ass off to develop some technique. That part didn't come easily. It's funny how we develop differently.

You sound awesome Charley! I'll admit I'm not the biggest listener of smooth jazz, I lean more towards neo-soul/RnB, and swing/traditional pop myself, but the track is excellent. Congrats!

Thank you! Frankly, I don't listen to listen to much smooth jazz either. I listen to quite a bit of straight ahead and fusion... and classical, pop, and rock... depending on my mood.

😂 Ok... I lived in LA for 10 years. Still have some close friends there. But Sac is where family is. And Sac is also 90 minutes from where any place you'd rather be - Tahoe, Napa, Yosemite, San Francisco... etc.

Thank you!! It's funny how contemporary jazz evolved. I love the classics. Bob James, Spyro Gyra, George Benson!! Do you remember when Maynard Ferguson came out with the Theme from Rocky??
