As to your template, I'll install 2017.08 my main computer and see what happens. On the office computer I'm using now, I moved all my existing templates to a different folder to see which six templates SONAR installed.

To follow up - maybe SONAR just likes me, but when I installed 2017.08 all my previous templates were still there...

The first 3 books in "The Musician's Guide to Home Recording" series are available from Hal Leonard and http://www.reverb.com. Listen to my music on http://www.YouTube.com/thecraiganderton, and visit http://www.craiganderton.com. Thanks!

Mine were fine with the EA release, but manually applying the final release version seems to have done something. I can guess at the extent though for me it was minor only affecting my basic template which has very few personal mods. I repaired it in minutes and all else appears fine.

I mostly use custom templates and they remain fine...

Cakewalk - seriously, your emails are TOO WIDE!! Check them in Microsoft Outlook 2016 will you? The images don't resize so the only way to see the content in the body is to make Outlook go full 1920x1080. Your emails never used to be like this. It happened when you changed the look.

This may be redundant but have you tried Control - (that's control minus).
As you may already know Control - or + will decrease or increase text size, at least in Firefox, Thunderbird and other programs.

The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better.

this bug had just been fixed, and the crackle sounds are gone! great job!
although the 24bit flac file was still shown as 32bit inside a SONAR audio track......
But are 24bit exportations actually dithered now from 32/64 bit FP?

I mentioned I was using Outlook 2016, not Office 365. Outlook 2016, in this case, is installed on a computer and is not accessed via a browser. When designing email templates, one has to be very careful as the myriad of email clients are not compatible with all of the facilities HTML allows for. I think that's what's happened here. Whoever at Cakewalk is handling these emails didn't test thoroughly enough, or at all outside of their own client (which may well be Gmail).

My niece uses Outlook 2016  and she says that control -/+ does change the text size.  Let me know if it works for you.

Note that Thunderbird is my email program and it does not go through a browser and control +/- works on it.

YMMV

Nope. Cakewalk's emails are the only ones I receive out of more than a dozen daily that have images that are too wide - forcing a horizontal scrollbar to appear.

yeah this is standard windows control, you can also use ctrl-mousewheel... however, depending on how the HTML markup is, HTML docs do not always play well with this

Again, we're not talking about a web browser here, we're talking about a desktop application, Outlook 2016, and while it understands HTML for the body of the email, the HTML it understands is a subset of what is available for the browser (for instance, no <DIV> style statements, that's why Tables are usually for formatting purposes). I don't think Cakewalk's email person understands this.

If anyone else is receiving Cakewalk emails via an Outlook client, I'd love for them to chime in.

Are the days gone when an update comes out and everyone talks about how much they love it?  Is it just too complicated these days for any software company to deal with all the different hardware/software variations on all the computers?

Tougher to see with monthly incremental updates, IMO. If we all waited a year to update I am quite sure you would hear a lot of ooh's and ah's about all of the features. This is much better, IMO.
I love the program and love the monthly updates. Cake are mostly hitting the mark from my perspective.

first question: yes, but well, it wasn't always roses
2nd question: commercial pressures make modern software development a technical compromise

They are at least further in between..
I forget to come and post about a feature I like, as I'm getting used to the frequent updates. (Shame on me
For me, even though it's like X-mas (almost) each month, I always keep looking for the next one

I have a rock solid system, and haven't had any issues that I can remember right now.

Newcomers to this has to learn not just a DAW, but how to make sure Windows will run as smooth as possible while working / recording. It's not an easy task.
I don't think (for those on) Win 10 updates has made this easier either.
This and the different HW configurations which can differ, almost from pc to pc in today's myriad of components.
All the best.

libsndfile treats 24 bit flac as 32 bit audio so this is expected. SONAR gives 32 bit data to the FLAC encoder.

I did however also say that I have a rock solid system, and I'm on Win 10 X64, latest update
I suspect it comes down to the HW configuration from system to system.
For me, it became this solid after upgrading to my RME. Can recommend RME by all my heart
It seems to be much less impacted by Win 10 updates, than my previous AI (Echo Audiofire 8 & Lexicon IO42).
My system has never been more stable than it is now. It is even connected to net by cable 24/7.

I agree with Zarrg... after 6 months of pulling my hair out with a MOTU 828x, I switched to a RME Babyface Pro and almost all of my problems went away. I am now running the latest versions of Sonar Platinum and Windows 10 Home 64bit and let Windows update whenever it wants... never any problems with the RME drivers. Sonar has been extremely stable and the odd time there has been a crash, it has been from a 3rd party plugin being added to a session that was started on a previous version of Sonar. Restarting from a recovered version gets me going again with no problems. RME rocks!!! And Sonar ain't too shabby either, when you get your computer and hardware sorted out. RME is definitely worth the extra expense.

I meant to comment early on but hadn't go to it yet.... congratulations on this month's "fixed" and "improvements" items....each one needed attention and very important...and made a difference to a lot of User's.
IMHO the return on investments if you will...was very high on this month's items in focus.
Great job 😃😃.

Everything fine here too at the moment... I'm getting audio dropouts but I am putting that down to me using MMultiBandGranular and Adaptiverb which are quite CPU hungry.
