How to get out of Demo Mode?

I've just installed CWFB and there is a popup box displaying:
Demo Mode
Please login to BandLab Assistant to update activation status.
Well I'm already logged in to BandLab Assistant and it's displaying "Up to date". The only available options are "Uninstall" and "Learn more". I tried logging out and in again but that didn't change anything.

I also tried running as administrator (both CWFB and BandLab Assistant) but it didn't make any difference. It remains in demo mode.

How did you install the first time? You need to install through BA and be logged in while installing.

The firs time I installed Cakewalk by BandLab using BandLab Assistant in my first computer. I Took some time ( i didn't realizeit wasdownloading the software) bue eventually started to install the software. BandLab Assistant also downloaded cakewalk.exe and instruments.exe into my downloads folder. So the second time I installed using this files in my second PC without being logged to BandLab Assistant. It failed giving me the demo message. Then using the same BandLab Assistant I uninstalled Cakewalk by BandLab and again installed logged to BandLab Assistant. It takes time to download again ( i also have to tip them again), The second time everithing works ok (no demo message).

Still in demo mode. Is there something specific that I need to do in BandLab Assistant? I can't see any relevant options. Clicking on "Open" doesn't appear to do anything. What am I missing? The popup message is telling me to login but I am already logged in.

Any time i got the DEMO thing I UNINSTALL BL CW from inside BandLab Assistant ( install it if you have not ) by clicking the down arrow right of OPEN in the Cakwalk section under the APPS tab. Then reinstall .. after the uninstall .. when that button reverts to install.

It seems the ONLY way you can install BL CW is first by having the BandLab Assistant installed and logged into. Then via APPS tab and CW there, click install button.

If you try by just using the previously downloaded cakewalk.exe file .. that WONT work, it will just be in demo mode. It seems to need BandLab Assistant installed, running and logged into. This no doubt for account verification & stop anyone from just using the exe alone to install where they like without BL knowing, so to speak :D .. Thats fair enough, after all its FREE

I imagine thats why BandLab Assistant needs to be running all the time on your system?

You hit it right on the nose there. You must be logged into BandLab Assistant to install Cakewalk and have it authorize correctly. Once it's authorized, you're good, but the install has to be through BandLab Assistant. If you run into demo mode for some reason, uninstall/reinstall from there. If you get persistent issues with auth, please contact support, so we can get more details.

These files are huge I downloaded at work and took home where I have not as fast adsl link I ran the exe.  Now I have to uninstall all again and  wait for hours to download.  Why is this not posted in on a sticky. If it free why all this carry on. Ridiculous.

Does it require another download? What happens if you put the files in your download directory, start BA and install. If it works like the old Command Center it will recognize the files are already local and use them.

If careful with uninstalling as it can wreck you good Sonar Platinum installation as they have put the new in with the old so say No when you uninstall the plugins. I am now going through the installation again.

Scook can you create a sticky for users to avoid all this. Thanks for your help
Comand centre had a download folder where you could drop the files and it would pick them up. I cannot see that in with Assistant. Still looking.

I am sure BandLab is following this thread and considering how best to make users aware of the installation requirements.

I hope so scook. A simple sticky would save a lot of frustration. I cannot find a download folder for assistant where you can drop the files.

I found the files in a Downloads folder under my User name C:\Users\Steve Cook\Downloads

BTW, if you have a previous version of SONAR installed, all you need is the Cakewalk.exe. The Instrument.exe is the same as the Artist Instrument Collection already installed with SONAR (assuming a full SONAR install).

I can not tell if he's good or not. I can not get him out of demo mode. I followed all the instructions the support team gave me. I lost a lot of time yesterday and today installing and uninstalling the application. I give up ... Maybe they will release an update to correct this ....

On one machine, I had the same issue. I shut everything down, rebooted, reinstalled using assistant and demo mode went away. Do be careful what you uninstall.

Yes, I found them there as well but I am not sure if you download on another PC with a faster internet link that the Assistant will find them in that location. I uninstalled and it's out of demo mode. I guess they will perfect that in the coming weeks like they did for CCC.

It's the "authorize correctly" part that I seem to be stuck on. What exactly is the next step to authorize?

There is no activation step a user can or has to perform. It is handled by BandLab Assistant as it runs the Cakewalk installer.

I also tried temporarily disabling McAfee antivirus and firewall before launching CWFB. No difference.

I clicked on the "Uninstall" option in BA. Nothing happened. CWFB is still installed. Even clicking on "Open" in BA doesn't do anything either. Is this meant to launch CWFB? I'm getting the impression that the problem here is with BA rather than CWFB.

That may be too late. The activation would have already happened or failed before you could launch CbB. You would need to disable the AV and firewall before installing with BA (if those programs were interfering with activation).

Re: How to get out of Demo Mode? 2018/04/06 04:26:15 (permalink)
Things were weird for me.  I kept getting a JavaScript error when I ran BandLab-Assistant.  Although the error was there, the files were still downloaded, so I installed them (at least the Sonar-install. For some reason the Instrument-install advertised itself as corrupted).  As this thread explains, when Sonar Launches, it is in Demo-Mode.  I tried many things and do-overs.  Sometimes BandLab-Assistant just failed with no error, disappearing altogether.  After this install, BandLab-Assistant would not open Sonar.

By the way I updated my Sonar-Platinum install using Cakewalk-Command-Center and that install went without a hitch and that version of Sonar did not run in Demo-Mode.  This was a breakthrough for me because previously last year (2017) I could not get Sonar to install any version beyond 21.4.00.30.  Today this newer version worked without problem.

I looked at the JavaScript error and it seemed to be complaining about not finding Windows-PowerShell.  I dug around and added the PATH to the PowerShell.exe to my Environment-Variables.  This fixed the strange errors in BandLab-Assistant.  After the new download and install everything was A-OK.

What is the difference between these two versions (the BandLab-Assistant & Cakewalk-Command-Center Versions)?
