No, from memory the progress bar is down lower, what your seeing is probably the orange line under one of the 3 tabs, as you select another tab that line should move to correspond to the tab you selected.

Hi,
Another problem I incurred with the lastest Bandlab update --- my midi no longer works.  I did a plethora of tests and went back to my Sonar Platinum --- found there was no problem with my midi working there
OK, Bandlab --- what did you change?  A simple file with my Play Steinway piano loaded and there's no midi response.  If I click on the keys in the Play interface -- sound is working fine.  Just no midi response.

Did anyone else have this situation?
Thanks,
Linda

to answer Linda, yes, I have been having adaptation problems - meaning if I add a new controller then some of the outputs switch to the new device (for example I turn on my MOTIF XS Rack and then Ivorys outputs have changed. So, I had to go back in manually to the Midi in and Outputs and make sure the in's match my controllers (I usually just leave that at all inputs because I use different controllers at the same time) and also make sure the outputs are going to the proper VST. I hope that isn't too many details. All that to say, yes, I hit the virtual keyboard on the computer and it plays the sound of the piano but the controller doesn't. Check your ins and outs on the individual channels. I am pretty sure they are  registered and selected in the Cakewalk main settings so you shouldn't have to go that deep.

LOL! Thanks for explaining that. Yes, I just clicked under sounds and apps and the little orange line moved. Now I need to check my version number and see if it did indeed update. And, thanks for being so kind about this. I'm a musician.

update - no it did not update. I still have 2018.4. Here we go.

Update. I click on Bandlab assistant and get a long javascript error. Oh, well, back to work. Try later. If you are following this, I did already uninstall, install once. Will try one more time.

Have you got the latest BA installed? I think it was 3.2.0 or something, if not you could manually download and install it.

that was my next question. Thanks for the help Matron. I just checked and my newly installed Bandlab Assistant when I clicked "checked for updates" says I have the latest 3.20 or something close to that. But, where is the Cakelab update download?

Just about an hour ago I got onto the assistant myself, and seeing there was an update, I just let it do it's thing.  Then I saw that CbB also had an update available, so I let IT do it's thing.  No problem with either and I did not get any email prompting me to update any vague software.  I just was at my DAW and figured it was about due to check it.  Are you guys who are getting this mystery email considering that it may be your anti virus software acting blooey?
Just a thought.

aha. There is no Bandlab Assitant in my control panel programs. I think though when I try to install it again it is going to say there is an instance running. I'll be back.

ok - got it. I needed to click under apps. Guess I am still getting used to having to share my DAW with other programs. Thanks again Marion. If you need a mix critique, please send me a mix - I owe you one.

Under Preferences and MIDI devices, choose MME instead of UWP and see if that makes a difference. Solved a similar problem for me.

Don't panic. BandLab assistant configures itself to run automatically when you boot. Whether or not you consider that a convenience (to check for updates regularly) or not is up to you. You can remove it from the autostart list if it's annoying.

I elected to disable it from running on boot, because I am not a BandLab user and probably never will be, and only care if cakewalk.exe is updated. Grab a copy of autoruns, part of the Sysinternals collection and a handy utility to have. Search for "BandLab Assistant" (it's under HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run in the registry) and un-check it.

+1

I disabled it from starting at Windows boot months ago. I go into it every so often to manually check for updates.
