I was really looking forward to having "real ownership" of all my Cakewalk purchases with no need for an internet account. To use Platinum as is. To use all of my Cakewalk purchases "as is".

I (and everyone else) was informed that would happen when customers would no longer have access to their Cakewalk purchases via the Cakewalk website.

Do you not still have access to your Cakewalk purchases via the Cakewalk website? My Cakewalk Command Center still works, is it hosed up for some people?

Yes I still have access. I don't know if others are having troubles.

Of course your questions from concern are misdirecting my comments. It's not a question of access to my Cakewalk purchases.
My statements were an answer and opinion to the OP.
I stated that I would have and would still be content with no updates nor upgrades to any and all of my Cakewalk purchases and to "own" them as is -and as it was stated would happen IF the website with my account went down and unfortunately for me this site is still operating and I'm still having to monitor it waiting to see if I ever gain "ownership" of my purchases. (which I also stated I don't think will happen now that BandLab showed up)

I don't understand how my original post wasn't clear but I hope this resolves your confusion...of course your concern of others troubles is something I can't help you with.

One thing you should consider, given the latest news for Gibson Brands filing for Chapter 11, is that it is likely that you in the near future will have a contract and license with a non existent company. You will be forced to take a loss along with all other stakeholders and creditors to the company. Your license will become null and void.

Now ... the good news is this ... the new owner of the IP to which you hold a license, are offering a bridge over troubled waters ... saying you can keep whatever you have without having to pay for it again. Just register with the new IP owner ... and all is good. That is an admirably kind offer, and definitively not in line with the London School of Economics thinking.

Some things you should consider;
If I had just purchased Platinum from Cakewalk and BandLab took the ball and ran with it everything would be fine and my reply to the OP probably would have been different.

But that is not the case. You need to consider that you have read my post and not understood it.
Had you understood then you wouldn't be advising me to register with BandLab when I clearly stated I'd done so.

You also would have considered that there are many members that have more than one purchase from Cakewalk, in their Cakewalk account, and only one has been "migrated" to their BandLab account. NOT as you say; "saying you can keep whatever you have without having to pay for it again". That is not a true statement and in fact Meng has stated he wasn't sure what would be migrated or when. Currently having only migrated one. So many members stand to loose more than you are considering.

So, in reply to the OP AGAIN along with my apology for others confusions...
If Cakewalk had given "ownership" and closed the site down BEFORE BandLab got in the game- I'd have been content. Platinum along with my other Cakewalk purchases work just fine as is.

I'll add- that after, I don't know...twenty years of using Cakewalk versions- for them to end the run with Platinum is outstanding. It is an amazing program as is. Of course there is always improvements that could be made but it is the best of many years of the "bakers" works and IMO is just fine the way it is.

Also, if this site remains active so I can download/install any of my purchases should I need to and until I'm no longer recording then I have no need for BandLab. No updates, upgrades, add-ons or anything is needed by me.
If it does go down...I hope that Meng manages to get all my Cakewalk purchases migrated to my BandLab account.

I think I've addressed the original topic very clearly for the OP. I'll not be spending any more time explaining my point of view to those with reading comprehension issues or lack of knowledge about all the details of this transaction from Gibsons Cakewalk accounts to BandLabs CbB accounts.  ( I'm sure there are those thankful for that. LOL)

I see we are approaching 0 Kelvin in negativity, and takes this as a very long winded Aye from someone who don't use, or have any intention of using CbB, ever. Stats needs to be adjusted accordingly.

OS:Win7x64 SP1 CPU:i5/8GB/SSD DAWs : CbB, FLS, SO2, (Reaper) etc. To much Gear, not enough wires.

I replied to the OP...not you.
You felt a need to address me about my post to the OP and tell me what I should consider.
I replied to you about that.
Now you address me again after you were very clearly explained why you addressing me was ridiculous.
I fail to understand why you insist to confront me but hopefully you can find help with whatever problem(s) you have besides the ones you've demonstrated because there is nothing I care to nor can do about any of them. I do however thank you. You've reminded me exactly why I don't frequent the forums here. Now have at it...You're welcome to have the last words.
