Mine was getting stuck - I'm usually not hooked up to the internet.  The last BA update fixed the hanging I was getting.  I was online and just left it hanging and eventually it decided to update.

I noticed this myself, but in my case, I  pressed OK and the next page opened which was BA. Shortly before all this I  had a problem with updating CbB. It started updating by it self while I was  using AD2 in stand alone. There was an immediate white out of program..oh oh I've  seen this before.  Immediate crash.. Tried to reboot, which was always ok, this time black screen....oh oh this is worst. Shut off machine. Then the probs began. Could not boot system, it came up with a Miriad of different probs. Had to press f8 finally which allowed me to go back to last known good configuration. That appeared to take me back, but all seemed good. This all happened last night. I have not opened comp today, yet, so don't  know what to expect. Oh well.......any good deals on SSD's out there. Lol

Hi

This is a problem with Band lab Assistant

I uninstalled the assistant after new update
Now that the assistant is gone, the problem has gone.
I think that the team on Bandlab should look into this as you get this annoying bumpf every time the assistant is opened.
It is just a little annoying glitch.
Some sites say do somethings to app data. Get rid of nodes. NO!! Do not fiddle as there is always a simple fix which has to come from the experts at Bandlab.
Can someone refer this to the bandlab team as I cannot seem to get screenshots up and running on this site.
It is the sreenshot above that Ken or Zargg put up.

What browser are you using? I got that message recently and I reset my 'internet safety zone' to default settings in Internet Explorer. It went fine after that. I've seen others saying the browser matters, and that BA works best on chrome. I would try different browsers, and try that setting in IE I mentioned.

Sorry if this seems a silly question, but what does the browser have to do with this? When I click on the Bandlab assistant on my desktop, it opens in its own small window which is not part of any browser window. I had the Javascript problem but got round it by uninstalling the latest BA and installing the previous version.

Hi
I have tried Google Chrome and is no different to Firefox .Still get this annoying popup Javerscript.
I would like to know how to get rid of it and this did not happen on the previous Bandlab assistant.
If Anyone at Bandlab is reading this. There is something annoyingly wrong with It as other people get this as well.
I have a new machine and nothing else plays up, just that assistant at the moment.

This to me looks like an Internet security setting issue.

Try setting your internet security zone setting to "default" within internet explorer (note even if you're using a different browser, the internet security zone settings within IE are system wide, and will affect all browsers).

Hello again,
Well, I  was able to remedy this once I  had gone back to earlier working configuration. I did reload my security software (Superantispyware), and found that a Trojan virus had joined in with the new update.....hhmmm, Singapore......probably a coincidence, even though I  haven't  seen a virus in a long long time. You might try doing a major scan to see if something snuck in. Just thinking......otherwise now when I  open BA, all is well with new edition running well. Hope you get to the bottom of this.

Can you post a screenshot of this Trojan virus that you found ?

Is it possible instead what you saw was a FRW (File Reputation warning) ? which I have seen as well.
That's merely because the Bandlab app is only a few months old and many Anti-viruses are not familiar with it yet.

Hi chuck

The popup appears when opening the bandlab Assistant
The screenshot is above--------Javascipt error occurred in main process  etc.

Zargg pasted the screenshot above which is the same as mine.( nearly at top of page)
I have unloaded or uninstalled the assistant a couple of times now and reloaded and the same happens.
This did not happen on last update ,only this new one.
I also tried Malwarebytes and Norton ,but it does not show any virus.
It has got to be who made this update It leads me to believe. Cannot be anything else.
My machine is also upto date and it is a new fast one.
Scanned my whole computer.No Viruses

You might be able to try updating Java:

- open the search function on windows 10 and type in "Java control panel"
- open the Java control panel and click on the update tab
- click on the lower right where it says "Update now".
- click on "Install"

your right you shouldn't need to do this, the app should have the latest/updated Java version inside the installer but maybe windows 10 security blocked java from the installer.

Hi Chuck

I do not have Java installed
I have heard java is not good.
So really this should not have happened as the previous assistant worked without  installing Java.
I have uninstalled the assitant for now.

Re: Strange anomaly when starting Bandlab assistant 2018/07/06 13:40:32 (permalink)
CB,
I only saw this when I  did a full scan with software, which I  had just loaded. I did not pay attention when I  was letting the software remove all things. You know, addware, Spyware and such. I did a deep scan, and only the protect software picked this up. Need I say  defender and firewall from MS did nothing about this. It could have been because I  had AD2 opened when the 'self appointed' BA decided to update without asking....like I  said, all is running good now. I will check virus software to see if it retained info about virus after deleteing.
Thanks for asking,
MJ

Javascript has nothing to do with Java.

scook has also mentioned this several times.

After all, as famed web developer Jeremy Keith once poignantly put it—”Java is to JavaScript as ham is to hamster.” But for the uninitiated, you’d be forgiven for thinking there was some sort of link

https://www.upwork.com/hi...nt/java-vs-javascript/

When I had BA installed on my old laptop (since uninstalled), I got the javascript thing a couple of times, and then it just stopped occurring for whatever reason, I did nothing to try and fix it, and nothing had changed on the laptop.

The last assistant worked without loading this java thing with a smoking cup of coffee.
Why is the latest update got this exception????
It  goes to show it is down to the programmer.
If things start going this way I will unload Bandlab and keep to Cubase.
I paid a lot of money for Sonar. I know it's bandlab now.
At least It would be nice for a Bandlab to comment and even look Into this.
Why is there no positive answer for this exception??????
It is full of people saying I am ok jack, but nothing positive.

Ok try this, I was thinking about it, and against my better judgement I installed BA on my old laptop again to check.

If you close BA by clicking the X in the top right hand corner, it does not close BA, but instead it remains in the system tray, if you subsequently try to run BA again by double clicking your shortcut, it will give the javascript error everytime. If however you close BA by going to the options (the little gear icon top left) and selecting 'quit', (which does actually close BA), and then subsequently try to run BA again by double clicking your shortcut, you will not get the javascript error. I tried this 10 times, and it was reproducible 100% of the time. Try it.

Re: Strange anomaly when starting Bandlab assistant 2018/07/07 10:25:57 (permalink)
The light went off when I remembered that trying to close BA by the X in the top right doesn't actually close it, but just left it running in the System Tray, and that to actually close BA you had to go 'Options/Quit'. That is most likely why it happened to me a couple of times and then no more, those couple of times I must have inadvertently tried to close BA by the X, (which is the normal procedure most times) instead of 'Options/Quit', which left it running in the System Tray, and then when I tried to start it by double clicking the shortcut I got the error.

You are right Matron.
If you use Bandlab Assistant- then Options -Quit, it opens up next time without the script error.
Big thanks for that.
So it is down to the bandlab programmers to sort that annoying problem out.
I hope nothing affects the update because of a little annoyance.
