Outboard sound source

Hello,  I was wondering if anyone could help me with this.  I have searched through the forum but haven't found anything that quite matches what I am looking for.   
I am using a Motu 2403mk3 as my audio interface.  I have an old Alesis QS8.1 as my controller.  I have the controller midi'd into my system and also lightpipe to my audio interface.  It is possible to use the sounds from my keyboard through the lightpipe and record them into Cakewalk by Bandlab?

I love the Alesis QS series synths.  I have an original QS8 and the sounds are fabulous.
 
I made this post a long time ago to help someone set up their QS8 so that they could choose the QS patches on the MIDI tracks in Sonar, play on the QS8, record the MIDI in Sonar and hear/record the sounds on the QS8.  (I don't even remember what version of Sonar I was on at the time so the menu items/dialogs may be different.)
 
Here's a pointer to the post.  It doesn't talk about recording the audio, but I believe you would just run the audio signal out of the QS and into the MOTU, then record the audio into audio tracks in Sonar.

I have used both a QS8 keyboard and QSR module with ADAT via MOTU 2408. In both cases, I had to slave the MOTU to the Alesis (i.e. set Clock Source in MOTU Audio Console to ADAT); slaving the other way always resulted in distorted audio from the Alesis. And, of course, you need to enable the ADAT inputs in the MOTU Audio Console and in Audio Devices in SONAR to make them available as track Inputs.
 
Otherwise it integrates just like any hardware synth.
