Vocal polishing effects!

Does anyone knows if there's a plug in effect, say an exciter for polishing vocals in sonar or on the PC?
I saw an exciter plug-in, it' from Aphex but it's design for Pro-Tools TDM only.
When you listen to the voice mix of Mariah Carey for example you'll hear how polished and "hyped" the vocals are.
Does anyone knows what specifically those effects are, I'm mainly interested in the exciter effect.
I have used the exciter on many recordings and it makes them sound "a million bucks"
but it's not plug-ins.

Please help folks, lets work together.

Patrick.

    Patrick:

There is a BBE plug-in (I'm not sure the cost) that is available...http://www.bbesound.com...I have used a BBE in live situations for years, and it is unbelievable how it sweetens the sound of my cheap speakers. Never used it in the studio though...alot of people in the "techniques" forum have used it and have their opinions.

If you have used an Aphex Exciter, the BBE is similar in that it seems to tighten the bass and clarify the highs.
