Why is 896HD output volume so low in P5? SONAR is OK

Hi,
Anyone know why the output volume in P5 v1.5 and Kinetic is so low comin' outta my MOTU 896HD?

In SONAR I can easily get the LED output meters on the MOTU flashing when I output a softsynth, but with the P5 main out meters crossin the redline during playback of the demo project, the MOTU output LED meters don't light up at all no matter what I do, and the volume of the sound is very low. Same thing in Kinetic. What's goin' on here?

Beethoven was right: the bigger the stream, the deeper the tone.

This is a bit of a common occurrence when the Justify is set to the wrong value with 24-bit drivers. Go to the Options/Audio, and swap whatever value [32 MSB or 32 LSB] to the opposite setting, and see if that's the solution. It may very well be caused by something else, but this comes up often enough here for us to use this answer as a first-shot diagnostic. HTH

    John,

Are you running your 896HD in 24-bit mode? If so, click the Options menu and select 'Audio...'. Once the Audio Options dialog pops up try adjusting the Justify setting the 'Playback Bit Depth' section. I believe the 896HD uses the 32-MSB setting, but may be wrong. Either way try one of the options until you get a clear and appropriately leveled sound.

I had the same problem with my 896HD. If you're using 24 bit audio you need to set the justification to 32 MSB and it should clear it right up.

    Good Luck
