MIDI hicups during drum recording - metronome

I am experiencing serious hicups problems when recording MIDI drums on Sonar. I never had such problems with earlier versions. Even metronome does not play steady!

Even trying to playback a drum pattern (style) that comes with the program gives similar problems.

Anyone had such problems ?

System : Win XP Sp2
P IV 1.6 Ghz, 768 MB RAM
Sonar 4.03 Producer Ed.

Thanks

I have problems like this occasionally. When I do, it is because some other program is also running. I try to remember
to kill all other programs when I work with Sonar, but sometimes I forget, and the "hiccup" reminds me. This seems
to be especially true if I have a browser online open.

I have this problem with the midi if I have cetain audio effects turned on so I also bypass all bins while recording/playing back/ or laying back of midi. Also the midi click doesn't lock up right for me unless I have snap to grid on and start directly on a beat or measure. I don't have this problem with the audio click. That's my 2 cents.

Thanks for your replies, but I can say I have no other programs running, and it usually happens when I start a new project, so, there is no effect running or anything - most of the time, it is my very first track to record drums.
