RME Beta 6 HDSP Drivers and I/O list
Hi guys, Is anyone here using the RME Beta 6 drivers for a HDSP9652 card? I installed them a few days ago and there is small issue that could be annoying for some. The order of the I/O choices have changed For example, the ASIO Hammerfall DSP SPDIF L choice is now at the top of the list. It use to be at the bottom of the list. Now every time I open a project my master output is set to ASIO Hammerfall DSP HDSP9652 ADAT 23 and all the other I/Os for tracks have been offset by one. Is there is way I can fix this in Sonar or anywhere else? Other than that the drivers seem to be working flawless so far. In any event I think I will be changing over to the WDM driver now that it works with the RME cards. When I select WDM drivers I also have the option of using my sound blaster card for my master out. This is cool because I can listen to a mix on my Klipsch 5.1 system and see how my bass levels are doing in the sub woofer. For those of you who may have missed this link on the other thread here is the RME Beta 6 driver: Beta 6 Driver http://www.rme-audio.com/download/hdsp_wdm_beta6.zip Digicheck 4.5 (older versions will not work with beta driver) http://www.rme-audio.com/download/digicheck_beta.zip Also, if you want to try these drivers you will have to update your firmware which is in the zip file. If your HDSP card has a revision number 1.3 or lower then you may have to send the card into RME for a modification. The revision number can be found on the card itself right in the middle of the PCB. Eric

Yeah, on my Multiface the ADAT I/O positions were swapped with the SPDIF positions. Of course, this is the same in TotalMix as well, is it with yours?

Hi, Yes the order was changed in my totalmix as well. I'm having a problem with some of my I/Os when I'm using the WDM driver. My I/O list looks really weird and some of the choices will not work. Here is what my list looks like and the ones with the asterisk next to them will not work: HDSP9652 SPDIF HDSP9652 ADAT HDSP9652 (1+2) 1/2 * HDSP9652 (1+2) 3/4 * HDSP9652 (1+2) 5/6 * HDSP9652 (1+2) 7/8 * HDSP9652 (3+4) HDSP9652 (5+6) HDSP9652 (7+8) HDSP9652 (9+10) 1/2 * HDSP9652 (9+10) 3/4 * HDSP9652 (9+10) 5/6 * HDSP9652 (9+10) 7/8 * HDSP9652 (11+12) HDSP9652 (13+14) HDSP9652 (15+16) HDSP9652 (17+18) 1/2 * HDSP9652 (17+18) 3/4 * HDSP9652 (17+18) 5/6 * HDSP9652 (17+18) 7/8 * HDSP9652 (19+20) HDSP9652 (21+22) HDSP9652 (23+24) I'm not sure what is going on here. I tried running the wave profiler a couple of times but it comes back with the same thing each time. I also tried deleting my AUD.INI file and that did not help either. Does your I/O list look like mine? If not, what does it look like? Thanks, Eric

Hi, Thanks for the link to the beta drivers. For some reason I am not receiving emails from RME anymore some time ago (¿?), but your link was very useful and I could install the betas. After issuing the flash update and installing the new beta drivers, Sonar performed a device profiling routine. I restarted Sonar but a message box appeared telling that the driver did not support stereo, and mono will be used instead!!! John PD: I am using Multiface (rev 15)

I know its off topic, but I just got an RME Fireface 800 and wonder if you could explain the difference between, for example: Fireface (1+2) 3/4 * -and- Fireface (3+4) ? In the very brief time I've spent with the new interface, they seem to pan out to the same thing ? Thanks in advance !

Hey, I tried to use these drivers and got problems . Now, when I playback in Sonar all that I get is a distorted sound coming from the left speaker. I deleted the aud.ini and re-profiled the card to no avail. I have to place the latency slider to about 90 ms (!!) to be able to playback using the wdm. Had to switch to asio in order to be able to run the last night recording sesion. Any ideas? I am fried??? Thanks, John [Edit] Using Sonar 5.2, Win XP and Multiface

Thanks, John [Edit] Using Sonar 5.2, Win XP and Multiface I had a similar problem when I first used the drivers. It turned out I did not update the firmware properly. After the firmware update you must power down your system and reboot from a cold start. Then install the drivers. After that play back was fine but I'm still having problems with certain I/O choices. I posted the issue on the RME forum but no one has bothered to comment. Eric

However, I can say that the ones with an asterisk next to them in the exmple I posted earlier do not work. If I were to take a guess I would say its a bug. Eric

Only the selections that do not have an asterisk next to them were working for me. Ther is a new BETA8 out now. I downloaded it but have not tried it. Somone suggested on the RME forum that I check the box next to interleave on the RME control panel. However, I switched back to the ASIO drivers for now and when I have time I will experiment with the WDM once more. Eric

By there way here is the explanation from RME on why the order has changed: The idea is that the position (i.e. channel number) of the SPDIF I/O (and in case of the 9632, also the analog I/Os remains unchanged even at 96k. With previous driver versions, the SPDIF would move from e.g. 25/26 to 13/14 at 96k (HDSP 9652). With the 9632, there were even two such changes at 96 and 192. Now, only the number of ADAT channels is reduced, everything else remains where it was. Whether or not this can be made optional is something I'm afraid I can't answer... Regards, Daniel Fuchs RME Here is the link to the latest BETA driver: http://www.rme-audio.com/download/hdsp_wdm_beta8.zip Eric

Got mine working. I'm crurrently using the ProjectMix AND the Multiface in WDM mode together. Pretty good, and I've got 34 inputs. Check the interleave and sync boxes, then use the opposite ones you've been using.

Hi, I installed the BETA 8 driver and got it working. Checking the interleve button seem to fix the problem. It's cool becuase I can now quickly switch over to my SoundBlaster for the master out and give my mix a quick listen on my Klipsch 5.1 system. When I use using the RME in ASIO mode, the I/O options for the SoundBlaster were not available. Eric

Yeah, ASIO supports only one interface.
