Laptop suggestions

I'm thinking about replacing my desktop and getting a notebook. The only things I use my computer for is academics (writing papers) and recording audio. I'm tempted to pick up a Mac (i have a Dell desktop now) , but are there any suggestions for a Windows Laptop that will work well for recording?

I'm happy with my software for now and have plenty of live audio gear, just need a new computer.

I used to have a Toshiba Satellite, with a Pentium IV 2.8Ghz, 2Gb Ram, and it worked flawlessly. I got it at Best Buy for about $1400 about a year ago.

You might want to look at my "Building a DAW advice" thread as I asked the exact same question as you and got some good replies.

Ultimately, I think I'll buy from http://www.adkproaudio.com/ when I'm ready. Check 'em out. They offer an extended (must have when buying computers) 3 year warranty as well.

Has anyone seen Core 2 Duo laptops available? There's one by Toshiba but it's pretty expensive http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/pdet.to?seg=ENT&poid=347885

I don't know if the performance gains justify the cost. (I could probably live without the HD-DVD too.)
