Input level

I have a roland juno g keyboard going into a layla 24 sound. I can not get a good strong/hot signal though. It is OK but not usually peaking in the good recording range that I typically shoot for...I have the layla cranked as much as I can and the keyboard volume itself. I also changed my cables out to be sure. Just seems I should be able get a much hotter signal but it is out of reach. Any suggestions/comment would be great. Thanks

Hey Roger, don't forget that you can toggle the +4dBu / -10dBV attenuation level in the Layla console.

I think the toggle only changes the meter range rather than the actual input sensitivity.

The +4 operating level increases the input level by 11 (Spinal Tap? LOL), 'course I'm ignoring the whole balanced/unbalanced thing.

Yah, I did chagne the attenuation and it is more than just the meter range, it does adjust the signal. I just need to boost it 100% which then means I have to adjust everything else way down when I put the track down, but signal still not very hot. Duh thing....someone mentioned running it through a preamp before layla vs just going from the roland into the layla. That will likely do it...I plan to try that later today when I get down to it.

    Thanks
