Figured I'd post this update in case anyone is thinking of getting an EMU card for a new machine that has Vista on it.
No, no... don't do that.

Why on earth, if you're serious about audio, would you get a new PC with Vista installed on it? Are you buying it at Best Buy or Circuit City or something? Jeez. Scott at ADK or any other PC builder who knows audio applications will sell you a new machine that comes with an OEM copy of XP Pro.

Do you want to be Microsoft's beta tester?

Can't answer your question, as I installed Vista on my own in addition to XP Pro.
It works fine for me with my MOTU and its Vista drivers... I don't feel like a beta tester at all. Sonar + Vista + MOTU 828... runs right along... with the only exception being Pentagon I.

But, since there are inevitably people who have purchased a computer with Vista pre-installed that are also in the market for an audio interface, I figured I'd give a head's up about how EMU is doing... in case they don't know where to look for this information.
I thought that was the purpose of this thread...

Just trying to post information some might find usable, not start yet another Vista-sucks thread...
If I had wanted that, I would have resurrected any one of the other 30 or so. My post wasn't about Vista, it was about EMU's Vista drivers.

My apologies.

I think they've earned it, but that's just me.
I DO like the interfaces quite a bit, actually.

Take care,

EMU beta drivers are up.
I forgot to post it here when I found out about it... two weeks ago or so.

NOTE: These are also XP driver updates, as well as PatchMix 2.0.
I'm testing now.

I did a quick test with the latest TC Electronic's Konnekt24D software on my vista32 system (Sonar 6.2.1).
It seems to work fine.

Here's what MOTU says:
MOTU is now shipping Vista-compatible drivers for all MOTU Firewire, PCI and USB hardware interface products.

And then they go on with:
All current MOTU hardware products are supported, including FireWire and UltraFast USB2 audio/MIDI interfaces such as the UltraLite and 828mkII, PCI core systems such as the 2408mk3 and HD192, and all MOTU USB MIDI interfaces.

I was using an 828Mk1, and didn't see any issues with 3.6.7.4, which looks to still be the one they have downloadable. Interestingly, though, it was released 01/15/2007. I would have thought a patch would have been out by now, since there have been reported issues with some interfaces on Vista (here, and on other DAW sites). Perhaps they're waiting for Vista SP1?
Worked fine for me though.

I can't test it anymore, however, as my 828 is now permanently connected to my Mac. I'm using the EMU 1616M on the Windows machine until I get something new, which will almost certainly be an RME.

Good luck,
- zevo

No they won't
Hey Does anyone know if the drivers for Vista 64 will work with XP Pro 64?
Seems like everyone has skipped over XP Pro 64 and moved right on to Vista.
