Keep Sonar 5 Just Incase?

I am currently running Sonar 5 PE, and I never have any crashes, processing problems, etc. Today I am going to install Sonar 6 PE, but I was wondering if it's possible to install it but prevent my system from automatically overwriting and assigning the new audio settings/properties to version 5.

Does anyone know if and/or how this is done? Thanks in advance.

Just install to a different folder, migrate your settings (follow the screen prompts) and you'll then have both 5 and 6 installed with the same initial settings.

I still have Sonar 2.2 XL on my computer and all versions in between to 6.2.1 I never use them but they don't hurt anything, and Session Drummer the old one don't work well in S6 (Even with the new DLL Cake sends you) but it still kicks butt in S5. I never let Sonar find my old settings, I just install it and refuse that option when it pops up, that way you are using the new folders. It only takes five minutes to reset everything in S 6.

I installed the program and the associated files into a separate directory and everything seems to be working great! I'm really excited to get some serious midi experience because the ACT technology and the synth rack seem like very useful tools.

Judging by the number of complaints about the patches and updates, I think I"ll pass. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before Sonar 7 comes out anyway.

Thanks again for the feedback guys. Sometimes it's difficult to get responses on these boards.

You can get an unrepresentative view of what's happening out there, I think, from these posts. I don't doubt they're genuine, but for the vast majority of uers, happily, these problems don't occur. Neither do they, for obvious reasons, post here to say that.

Indeed, the main point of 6.2 and then 6.2.1 is that they fix bugs that exist in 6.0. That said, mosty users trundle along quite happily with 6.0 with no real dramas. So I guess if you don't have problems with 6.0 and don't need the extra functionality that 6.2 in particular provides then OK, don't upgrade. Hope you like 6.0 anyway!

Really? Keeping responses on topic can be difficult, but the generous heapings of responses here are what keeps me coming back for more...
