Renaming audio I/O in sonar 5

i've read on a couple of threads about using "Friendly names" to rename inputs and outputs.
Is this a new function in version 6 or am i able to do it in 5?

Thanks in advance.

There's a workaround you can use in Sonar 5 for using friendly names with outputs - a bit of a chore to set it up though. I've been doing it since about Sonar 2!

Suppose you have two paired outputs - say Maudio 1/2 and Maudio 3/4. Suppose 1/2 are wired to your headphones, 3/4 to your Speakers.

    Open Normal.cwt

Create two stereo busses. Name one Headphones and direct it out to Maudio 1/2. Name the other Speakers and direct out to Maudio 3/4. Don't change any other settings. Then hide them.

Then save the Template. You've just created what I call two "ghost" busses.

Every new project you create will now include two hidden busses Speakers and Headphones. By directing output to these hidden anmed busses, you are effectively directing them to the hardware outputs.

i'll give it a try, altho the main issue is with the inputs.

    cheers glazfolk.

Can't think of a workaround for inputs, sorry.

Looks like you'll just have to upgrade after all!
