Korg padkontrol help

Just got a korg padkontrol, have read the manuals, installed the dfh samples, ...it shows up as 'VST drummer' in my synth rack, but I'm not hearing any sounds...this controller/pad stuff is extremely new to me, I have no clue really what's going on, even after reading the manual! It is confusing to know which MIDI in/out settings to use on the VST midi track...I've tinkered with every possible combo, but the pads still don't produce sound (using just the USB cable)...otoh, the pads do a cool little light show when sitting idle for a bit lol....Can anyone give me a step by step to using this within SONAR?

Not not familiar with the pad control, but i think its only a control with now instruments inside it. So, you need to open a synth and trigger it with the pad control.

well I did manage to get a snare drum sound, and I heard a kick sond earlier but don't now....the dfh VSTi is loaded, so I guess it's responding now, I s'pose now I need to figure out how to get a full kit assigned to the 16 pads...boy the documentation for this stuff is VERY general. A step by step guide FOR THE TOP HOSTS SUCH AS SONAR would be a great thing....I'm going to keep tinkering all night lol...btw, I did manage to get the 1 snare sound I've got going to respond to the XY roll feature, now THAT is cool!....the rolls sound so lifelike , just by rubbing a finger across the XY pad...left for a slower roll then right to speed it up, down to lower the volume, up to increase and any combo thereof, VERY cool...

I Love DFH. I got it and love it. If you have 16 pads, you need to assign each pad a different midi channel and then in the DFH you need to assign each drum there own midi channel and then your good to go.

there are presets on the pad kontrol that map the controller automatically to various softwatre. check out the manual for how to change presets and which one you need for dkfh.

well I've got a kick sound now on pad 13 to go with my snare lol....I tried opening the editor/librarian and after FINALLY figuring out the correct MIDI ins/outs to get this thing to transmit the dfh superior Korg demo, I now have pad 13 with a kick sound and 06 with a snare sound...I'm not seeing where to set the midi note or whatever in the superior Korg demo VSTi....or is it done is SONAR?....I think I see how to set midi note names on the pads now...is it possible to do load sounds and set pads WITHOUT using the editor/librarian?

It's going now...shoulda checked the dfh korg superior folder on the disc first, doh!....all I can say is WOW, I consider my rhythym skills spastic at best, but oh man....those sounds are so HUGE , and the pads so responsive, It feels like your sitting behind a real kit! The XY roll feature is just a blast, although it doesn't appear to record the full roll variations, have to check on that...I'm going to try setting up the top row of pads to control SONAR's transport and maybe the settings knob to scrub , if possilble....
