Lynn
Dan, I sat between my speakers for this and was rewarded with throbbing bass and percussion throughout.  I loved the various textures and the way you arranged them.  All in all, this is a sophisticated production that could not be any more professional.  Not bad for just fooling around.

Thanks Lynn! I don't know if you saw it earlier, but I gave you credit for inspiring the intro with a "tip" you gave on these forums a while back...

Dan

Very nicely done.  I love how clean and airy sounding this is.

Nice vocal synth too.... kinda reminds me of the kind of vocals I hear in the Cirque stuff.

Full of energy from take off to landing.

I was listening on cans..... that was a sonic treat.

That's cool, Dan.  However, the credit must go to George Martin and the Beatles for coming up with this idea.  Back in the 70's, many engineers were flipping reels of tape and experimenting with reverse tape effects including myself.  The digital age has made this so easy.

All the best,
Lynn

Of course that's all true, but you laid it out simply so I, who never spliced a tape, can understand it. Thanks for that.

The Band19
What's that synth used in the beginning, and how is it panned back and fourth?

Not sure what "Rob Papen's Blue II" is? But I enjoyed your recording. I really like the lush synths used in the different freq spectrum, and the choir sounding voices. Again, not sure if this was just tracks you mixed, or some sounds you created. Either way, I thought it was pretty good for the genera. Good job Dano.

Blue II is the second version VST synthesizer from Rob Papen. It really is a an awesome sounding synth. At the very beginning (the first 2 seconds), I took a snippet of the synth's audio after I bounced it, reversed it, added reverb, reversed it again (thanks Lynn!), then used a filter to generate the stutter effect and Waves H-Delay for the ping pong. After that, it is all Blue II, Omnisphere, Z3ta, Kontakt and my Triton. It's the first time I've had to load multiple instances of Omnisphere to get all the patches I needed, lol.

The vocal comes from Realivox Blue. Lots of blueness in this song. Realivox Blue is a Kontakt library of a singer recorded singing vowels, consonants and transitions between syllables. You create what she sings by typing phrases phonetically (for the most part). Lots of potential there, but it can be tricky to get the results you want.

I'll take it as a compliment that you thought I mixed prerecorded tracks...

Regards,
Dan

Wow, you're the man Dan... Kudos. When I grow up I want to be like you. Actually, I would like to be a genetic experiment, with some of you, some of Timaaaay, some of Frank Tanton, and some of James yo Yo YOOO! I'm just hoping the conversion doesn't hurt.

Sittin downtown in a railway station one toke over the line.

If you wanted to make an extended mix in the spirit of what RobertB expressed you could start of with like 15-30 seconds of slow, dreary, boring, monotonous noise to express being in the actual airport....but I digress...GREAT JOB and I'll have to take a look at the blue VST you used! -Shawn

Hello Dan ,
I'm just getting back to the songs forum after being MIA for a few weeks ...

Wow , your song sounds fantastic to my ears right now  lots of very positive attributes going on here .
the instrumentation is spot on and unique ….
the mix is one to die for …it sounds crystal clear , and your mix has an element of breath to it ...
I think you set the bar pretty high with this song .
I can admit I wouldn't even know where to start if I was ever looking to attempt music along these lines ...
very powerful and professional sounding music
