For those of you who've been fooled, like me...

And maybe even BECAUSE of me, I've just read on KVR that the so called entity known as DNR Collaborative has no plan of updating Mix Control Pro - a plug-in I've spoke highly of here on this forum.

http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2394543

Not so long ago, they were still luring in customers w/ a promised free upgrade to version 2 (which should have been released last fall, initially). You could even make donations to support development...

As many of you may know, one of the members of the collaborative passed away earlier this year. And I guess he was responsible for Mix Control Pro.

I'm not really bothered by the fact that I bought the plug which won't be updated. However it does tickle me that I've been promoting their stuff here.

But what really annoys me is that I didn't figure out what DNR Collaborative really meant - a bunch of fellows coding on their own, all working on their personal project, w/ no one to take over in the event of their demise. There is no unity, no team.

MixControlPro was not a DNR Collaborative product despite being labelled as such. There is no brand name, no "company" - DNR Collaborative is a front for a bunch of amateurs (as talented as they may be).

112 db kept on going after the passing of the mastermind behind them. I guess that's how we differentiate a legit company and a bunch of amateurs.

It's sad to hear that there will not be a Version 2 but I am happy with the existing product I purchased and the price.

Too bad that a product this good will probably never have the chance to take that next step forward.

I have been fooled much worse by companies that Are still around. Sometimes makes me wonder why...

    Kind regards,
    Rick

UPDATE - My previous e-mail had gone unanswered but I've just received news from DNR that they still intended to update MCP - contrarily to what I had read. Here it is:

    1) MixControl has not been abandoned. We are pursuing this project initially to provide the funding for MCP v2. We are hoping to begin further development of v2 by Q3 of this year.

     2) You will get a free upgrade, as promised.

     3) The "collaborative" part of his view for this organization is what I am attempting to engage in currently. We have a new project being developed currently which is a "designer account system", which will allow all of the designers we've been in contact with recently to chat, collaborate and release new products on their own through our website.  If anything, I am very much trying to do the best I can to make things how I believe Reason would have wanted them to be. I'm not sure how else to go about it.  Hope that clears things up a bit.  Steven

So apparently not all hope is lost.
