Free Eventide Plugin UltraChannel Through July 8

Sadly, an iLock account is required even though the dongle isn't required. I wonder why.

The page hung up for me...

Hung up on me too.

Followed the link in the e-mail and downloaded it in 15 seconds.
 

First tried to use gmon's code which seemed to be working.  Got to "depositing license" and waited...then it kicked me to a blank page (eventide.elasticbeanstalk.something or other) and simply hung.  Checked my email and saw that as a previous Eventide customer I had the promo and my own code.  Tried using that...got an invalid code error.  Used a different email.  Still invalid code error.  Tried gmon's code again.  Same thing...all good till "depositing license please wait" then kicked to the blank page again.  What it supposed to happen and how long does it take to "deposit license" in your iLok account??
 
Plus how do you download the plug?
 

Seems that their servers may be overly busy right now.  Maybe better to wait until the stampede subsides, then try again.  It worked for me after a couple of refreshes of the "blank" page.
 
When it finally comes back with a happy message, you'll get an e-mail with the link to the installer.  Then you'll also be able to activate the plug within the iLok License Manager. 
 
Looks like a cool plugin ... miniature versions of gate, 2 comps, EQ, saturation, the famous pitch-shifter, and delay all rolled into one interface.  Reminds me of the Ren Channel but with more stuff.  Tons of presets, too.  Well worth the download!

Thanks Eddie, ol pal!!  That did the trick.  Just refreshed the "blank" page a time or two and bingo.
 

I just put the code in the form at the end of the page and the plugin was finally put into the manager. It's all good now.

Is this actually free or a license that times out July 8?

It has some time to go before calling it "late for the cut off", my calender still shows June.

 Don't sweat the License Manager, Mesh. With all due respect to those that object to Ilok license manager, I have it installed on my 32 bit Vista mobile system and my 64 bit main system. It's basically a TSR(is that still a valid term?) and sits quietly in the background.
As for the plug-in itself, I like it. As mentioned earlier, I'm sure the idea of offering it for free is to get exposure, and possibly some feedback on how it is being received before they launch the paid version.
Side chaining is not yet available in the VST version. This may be big to some, but I'm not entirely clear on the concept, so it's not a deal breaker for me.
I have the Studio version of X3, not Producer. While I have access to Pro Channel, the EQ is somewhat cozy.
The EQ in Ultra Channel is larger, and much easier to work with.
And having the various functions in one place is very nice. I've played with it with two guitar tracks and an extremely dirty organ track. It's very easy to manipulate.
Bottom line:
For X3 Producer users, it may be redundant with what you already have.
For X3 Studio users, it's definitely worthwhile.
For X3 users, get this now. It is a very powerful plug-in and you will kick yourself in the teeth if you miss out.

Thanks Robert for the info. I actually have an iLok account (for only 1 plugin I bought awhile back) and haven't installed that plugin on my new DAW. My real concern is with having the Pro Channel, will this be more useful or not?
Being free, I suppose I have nothing to lose.......

Hate ilok or anything dealing with company controlled authorization. Free price tag offset my moral balance on this one enough to try again.  After a UVI Mello ilock meltdown where the company told me I was just screwed. Out of luck. Nothing they can or would do.  Live with it..  Plus, I couldn't find a good Warez crack (yet...)
 
The Eventide plug went through without a problem and will get it installed on another box I use for live. Haven't experienced yet if it has messed up anything else. Mostly in my case a learning experience to jump through the activation portals.
 
Took me awhile to get the thing working but less than a minute to hear that this plug was worth the wait. Have only explored the parametric, the fine compressor and the micro pitch shift. This is so far an excellent piece of software. With a gate and delay in there somewhere, this is a must have.
 
Except for the ilock thing, big thumbs up.

Here is the Pro Channel that ships with X3 Studio next to UltraChannel.
Studio doesn't have the flyout EQ. The base version of X3 does not have Pro Channel.

For X3 Studio users, Ultra Channel is much more versatile. Producer may have more modules that even the score a bit.
I'm sure the free offer is a somewhat of a market test and Eventide is watching forums such as ours for feedback.
We may even be participating in some final beta testing. So far, the plug-in has been well behaved, does what it is supposed to do, and CPU load is light.
Hopefully, they'll get sidechaining working in the  VST version before the paid release.
It's not a big deal to me now, but if I were dropping $249 for it, I would expect the whole thing to work.
As it stands, it is a very nice plug-in though.
