Hi,

It's a good question ... short answer .. you will all say that I am evasive! Long answer, will confuse every single one of you, because you can not see the link between it all ... a person in the middle!

Theater - I have "quit" theater, with the exception of discussing acting, directing and its history. I do not (partially) care for the fame/star routine and the continuous fascination with the same musicals and inanity. I guess I do not have the patience for that at all. I do love, with all my heart, and had my greatest successes, experimenting with the rest, and specially modern theater. Some of this work, was expanded later to work with a few musician friends.

Film - My first love, and specially directing. Have made several films and even had one for Kevin Ayers, that unfortunately can not get released because Ray Manzarek would not allow me to use their small bit on the film. Considering the bastard came from a "film" like band with a singer that lived in his own film, I always thought it was hippocritical, but when he denied it to me, was a time when the band was not getting royalties and were caught in many fights. Still, there is a time when you love/appreciate your children, and you do NOT stab them! I have, for the past 30 years done film reviews of foreign film, since that is something that few enjoy and watch and it just shows the average xenophobic attitude of most folks ... something that I lost, when growing up in three languages and three continents!

Music - From my own family's huge collection of LP's, over 3K of them and 200 operas, there is nothing that I have heard that has not swayed me. It is more magnetic than sex, even, if one can say that ... and I can easily live on music. Due to communication and language issues, I never had the chance to have lessons and get better, and perhaps play music, which I believe I would have become some kind of a professional with it. The dedication and love to the music is too deep!

.... and today, at 64 ... the day I retire, I either become a film maker or a musician ... I have no idea which, since both of those,
for me, are extremely visual endeavours, and are the light and love of my life!

My films will all have the experimental edge on them, and they will not be "conventional" in any sense of the word ... but folks here don't know what I am saying ... if they do not see the most un-conventional film makers the world over! They have no idea, what it means ... except that some think that I am just being difficult and hiding somewhere ... what would a small cock, chubby guy have to hide? To appease your ideas of what you don't understand in a person?

As I have said, many times, it is about what I see inside, be it a dream or a vision, I do not differentiate in that area of myself ... there is a side that sees things, and they are different, and that is what will be in film, or music ... plain and simple.

There is no secret.

There is no hope.

There is no desire.

it just is!

It's like a "photograph" ... and you have never seen anything like it before ... and for the record, those are the artists I love the most, IN ANY DISCIPLINE, but here, as in other boards, people have this funny idea that music is from Mars, Painting is from Venus, Writing is from Jupiter, and Acting is from Pluto!

There is only one source of energy ... and it can perform in a thousand different ways ... and how it all comes out is given a name ... that everyone does not understand, and even I spend time trying to figure it out!

Go ahead ... and think I'm evasive. You're only fooling yourself!

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

craigb
webbs hill studio
from memory,he had a problem with a plugin and craig wouldn`t help him so it`s been payback since.

Actually, he wanted me to teach him something I didn't know how to do, so I simply told him to try exactly what I would have to do to learn it: Read the manual and experiment.

And Craig is alright ... and then, after that ... musical tastes are insane, but then, so are mine! I'm just glad I forgot how to count how many songs, since I do not do songs!

As for teaching me something/anything ... I'm a tough student, usually one of the best in the class, mind you, but tough, because I have to learn my own way through language and other visual filters.

It's funny, catch this ... so I'm in class and Dr. Glenn is gushing romantic about Medea and I'm seeing in my head (during the messenger's speech) a woman spinning, and knocking down the light posts and setting the place on fire, and of course the story is that Medea poisoned the dress, and of course, to me, that is the grossest translation and the single greatest woman hater piece of writing ever done, that is sooooooooooooo close to some of the religious thinking of the time and since then! And all of you, and every one else, look at me and go ... ????? ... when what I spoke of makes sense, and the speech and its story do NOT, and even come off as stupid and probably allegorical. It might even suggest that the dress made her a sex goddess, because of Medea, known for her exploits ... but nooooo ... she has to be made into a monster!

Anyways ... there you have it. Not perfect, but I am not sure I am wrong, and that people go around putting "poisons" in girl's dresses! So go believe the social crap?

So, to sum up, you like theatre, music and movies.

Confusing...not really.

I live them, is the best way to put it! It's all the same thing for me. Sort of I turn left is one, I turn right is the other, I look up and is the other ... but the person is the same.

Two things to check out if you can ... it will help clear a few things up ... see the films "The Tightrope" and then "Visions of Light". One is about acting by one of the most valuable teachers in the 20th century (Peter Brook) and the other by a bunch of cinematographers, and how they created magic, and sometimes ... you call that magic? But some of the visual details are insane and some of the greatest and best images in film EVER.

Maybe not ... stick to Jurassic pop! ()

I don't see anything to 'clear up'. You're as plain as day, however much mystery you imagine you're shrouded in.

Again, the put-down.

The reason I don't respond to all the film and theater expounding, might have something to do with the fact that the last movie I actually saw in a cinema was the premiere of the Rock (1996?) and the last live play I went to was Evita in London's Piccadilly Circus area back in 1981.  But, lucky for me, this is mainly a music creation forum, ya?

Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

Kind of takes on a whole new meaning in this context.
