Let me get this right.  The OP had trouble with Sonar on a PC so he chooses a Mac to run X1 and now is complaining it also has trouble?  Is this what the OP is saying?

I went to the Apple store and was looking at a Mac  once. It had a huge monitor. Maybe a 32in. After spending ten minutes trying to find the stupid mouse pointer I asked the rep if the screen can be set so it can be seen. They could not. I guess I'm not into gestapoware.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

I use both MACs and PCs....

I use the PC for MUSIC and I use my MACS for the Internet.

Ever notice how all the software from APPLE is way OVER PRICED!!!!!!  Oh, so is the hardware.  But it is easy to use (you gotta admit). Even a caveman can use a MAC.

It's amazing to me that someone who has decided that SONAR isn't for them needs to tell the world.  Who cares?  I don't like McDonalds but I didn't announce on the BIG MAC forum that I have sworn off BIG MACS because after years to trying to eat healthy, they were killing me.  I just stopped buying Big Macs.

Sorry for the negativity, but these kind of ANNOUNCEMENT posts don't provide any value to anybody except the narcissism in the OP.

I must say I've had some trouble leaving some places, especially pubs after a drink or three, but it's never taken me over 6 hours................

I got kicked out of a pub the other week 10 minutes after going in.... the plumbing was on the fritz , so they kicked everyone out.. thats a first time in 20 years

as for the whole mac / pc thing.. makes no odds to me , use both.. it's sometimes the hardware that is the issue.

No thats not what I am saying. I used Sonar on a PC and got fed up with having dramas with it. I have had probably 6 - 8 PCs over the years including Dell and HP and a few others. So I chose to buy a Mac cause I heard there were less problems with the Mac compared to a PC and so far I could not be happier. It does what it is supposed to do and I don't have to do maintenance on it every day to keep it running. I stayed with Sonar on the Mac after being told, maybe incorrectly, that I could run Sonar using Bootcamp. I thought I would try it before going to the expense of buying new DAW software. But I was wrong. Sonar still did not work for me so I have ditched it for now and I am using Logic with great success. I am recording music not fixing things. I just got sick of being told by Cakewalk, even when I was using Sonar on a suitably powerful PC, that I needed to stop using my anti-virus, stop being connected to the internet, stop running a wireless network for my kids to access the internet while I am recording, completely uninstall and reinstall Sonar ad nausea.  I'm glad Sonar works for some on a PC. For me it didn't so I went down another path and tried what I was told would work. It didn't. So now I am running an Apple program on an iMac and making music.

See, you spent the money for a Mac. Had you actually bought a PC made for a DAW, or built one yourself with quality parts ...odds are, you don't have these problems.

The problem with PCs is that there are too many cooks(component manufacturers), and Apple has a dictatorship in it's kitchen. Once one realizes: a)a DAW should just be used for making music and b)what parts are quality and work well; stability isn't a problem. Then get a quality interface to work with the DAW.

I haven't had problems because I practice what I preach.

Even X1 didn't bring down my DAW when it was still in beta!

You'd be better served to look inward.

None of that matters. The bottom line is you are trying to run a program on an unsupported OS that is running on unsupported hardware. End of discussion.

Nothing more to say about it.

mick, with all due respect.... why are you still here?

Those of us who use X1 (and it works or we are happy) will not be persuaded to leave because you are trying to leave.

I say trying because as Yoda sez......

Even though some people have complaints about Logic.  I am a Logic PC refugee.  Sonar is looking more and more like Logic with each new update.  now if that would only apply to the staff view...

I wonder sometimes what LOGIC had been today if NOT Apple had bought EMAGIC and f-cuk it up...
It had been the BEST DAW on the market for sure. LOVED LOGIC until Apple bought it. Today, SONAR X1, Cubase 6 or STUDIO ONE are the closets you can get...

My Ranking

1. SONAR X1.
2. Cubase 6, Nuendo
3. Logic Pro (Apple)
4. Studio One
5. Reaper
6. Samplitude
7. Pro Tools HD
8. Digital Performance
9. Ableton Live
10. FL Studio
11. Record

I think he answered his own question actually. He said he was tired of having to shut down antivirus, or his kids coulded surf the net, and many other things were happening. Imagine walking into a professional studio and on the computer systems used to record a session, the secretary was paying her bills, and the kids were hunting down ninja killers, and all that sort of rot going on.

In my house we ahve a computer that runs the internet, and e-mails, surfs and finds things, play a few card games, stores pictures, and stuff. Runs Linux by the way) But my DAW is a dedicated unit. PC with Windows. All my recording software is on it. Never touched the net. I do not need a software updating during a recording session. I don't need antivirus checking for new definitions during a mix down. Imagine this you are recording that prefect take of a tender and beautiful vocal, and you hear this " Avast has updated your antivirus"! Great, should i use that as a background vocal.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

The OP has stated that he has moved on.

For the record, the OP is using an unsupported OS and/or environment not suitable for a DAW.
