So far Bapu has the most recent album, just 21 years old. Anyone have a great album from this century?

2009 - Live Warrior - Richard Thompson
2012 - Thick as a Brick 2 - Ian Anderson
2010 - The Gathering Light - Karnataka
2009 - Wintercoast - Touchstone

All pretty good, and some of the artists go way back, but with the exception of Live Warrior I don't think they would make my top 100, I am an old fart.

I didn't get to see them until a few years ago, unfortunately. It was an enjoyable show, and they played for almost 3 hours, which I really wasn't expecting from an aging Robert Smith - I mean, even I was tired by the end of the show, but they kept coming back. lol

Obviously, it's not exactly the real thing either. Man, I envy you. :)

I will start
Spirit ... The twelve dreams of dr sardonicus.

Great mix, great songs, odd but great continuity

Space Boogie
When I Touch You

Both of these will be in my first show ... can't help it ... that is such a great album, and don't forget "Nature's Way", that is such a beautiful piece.

Supposedly, btw, the album was a satire of almost all the bands that were the "great hits" in radio at the time ... try to see if you can match any ... some of them are obvious.

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

The greatest album (ever) has not been released yet!

The CHB is working on the final tune, then it WILL be released (unless Grant want to do one more take on his solo on that one song).

He should just superimpose his solos all together into one massive guitar blow out!

That should show'em who's best and louder!

Hi,

NP:

A Night for Baku -- Djam Karet 2003
Recollection Harvest -- Djam Karet 2005 (right after it!)

Their CD's to get would be ... Suspension and Displacement (check out Dark Clouds, No Rain for sure!) ... and then Burning the Hard City (check out Grooming the Psychosis and Feast of Ashes).

Still the best band out of the Los Angeles area that I have ever heard. Not counting The Doors and Frank Zappa ... totally different stuff! Djam Karet is all instrumental.

Hi,

From craigb's listing:

-->> Scorpions - Lovedrive & Love At First Sting

Get "Fly to the Rainbow" their second album and then do a segue from the title cut to Amon Duul 2's song "Apocalyptic Bore" from Vive La Trance. One is saying goodbye to drugs and the other is saying ... have a party.

-->>Tangerine Dream - Melrose & Goblin's Club

I like  220 Volt Done in between. It is a live album and a band that good deserves a mention when they can do it live!

-->> Ozric Tentacles - Eternal Wheel

Strangeitude for me ... specially "Between the Ears"

-->> Porcupine Tree - Deadwing & Fear Of A Blank Planet

Agreed!

-->> Roxy Music - Avalon

Their 3rd and 4th albums back to back ... not a single bad piece!

Glyn Barnes2009 - Live Warrior - Richard Thompson

Richard and Linda Thompson -- Live (More of Less) ... absolutely killer versions of "Calvary Cross" and "When Night Comes In" ... been trying to get Bapu to listen to that bass player from Fairport Convention for 100 years now!

And of course ... Fairport Convention's Liege & Lief ... so we can blow out Reynardine with one of the most beautiful voices ever!

+1000 on both of those. Those live recordings of "Calvary Cross" and "When Night Comes In" are astounding. I think there are a few repackagings of that album. The one I have is called "Guitar, Vocal".  With Fairport's Dave Pegg (bass) and Dave Matticks (drums) and John Kirkpatrick making a button accordian rock.

Some info here http://www.richardthompson-music.com/album.asp?id=114

Edit - this clears up the difference in title.

About 3/4 of this two record set was initially released in the U.S.A. on the Live! (More or Less) two record set. The following tracks are available only on the Guitar, Vocal album:
"Throwaway Street Puzzle" (Fairport Convention)
"Mr. Lacey" (Fairport Convention-live)
"Sweet Little Rock 'n' Roller" (Fairport Convention-live)
"It'll Be Me" (Richard and Linda Thompson-live)
