Fragile: YES

and perhaps not their best but my favorite from Deep Purple: The Book of Taliesyn

oooh
I prefer Close to the Edge though.

Tales from Topographic Oceans for me ... one of the best "rock symphonies" ever written!

I have to agree - I absolutely adored all 4 sides of this monster

I remember when my friend put that on the school's PA record player, cranked the volume and then locked the door on his way out leaving the normal key inside.  EVERYONE (including many of the school's surrounding neighbors - lol) got to hear one entire side before the Admins could find a spare key...  Not sure why he'd give up his album that way, but it sure seemed cool at the time!

I think I saw Ted more than any other act when I was young. He toured everywhere. He came through GA about every 6 months and opened for Alice Cooper at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium 1970 IIRC. I remember him discreetly disappearing from the stage while the drummer and bassist got down.... then Ted climbed up (I guess a ladder) behind an amp stack and leapt onto the stage again with his Byrdland...  he put on a GREAT show. Is Papa's Will on the double live? It seems to be a rare cut but is really good, IMO. He was better than Cooper to me.
I may need to pick this album up, thanks!

edit> I checked. Papa's Will is on Survival of the Fittest Live from 1971, recorded in 1970. This isn't from the album and isn't recorded nearly as well but it is the song...
Papa's Will ... if you like it heavy and a little spooky... you'll like it.

Led Zeppelin I and II

...
J
I like these two albums, and the big, great, awesome bootlegs that existed from this band ... they were blow outs with the material from these 2 albums and then some.

I really think, that the energy and the powow that they came to these concerts was amazing, and I have never heard a bad LZ bootleg from this time period!
If someone, EVER, finds a recording of "Live on Blueberry Hill" ... this is the one album in my life that I regret having let go! It was a double album!

Glyn Barnes+1000 on both of those. Those live recordings of "Calvary Cross" and "When Night Comes In" are astounding. I think there are a few repackagings of that album. The one I have is called "Guitar, Vocal". With Fairport's Dave Pegg (bass) and Dave Matticks (drums) and John Kirkpatrick making a button accordian rock.

If I have a "dream" ... it would be to play bass as smooth as this ... it's almost like the notes do not exist!

Sadly ... listing this for Bapu and others to hear, is like a curse ... I think they are thinking that they could not be that good ... and I always say ... we all crawled before we walked ... this is not about one's ability ... this is simply ... not Chuck Berry! or Progressive, or bullcreme!

It's ... just ... sublime ... and for me, when I close my eyes ... this is WAYYYYY more than just music! I wanna say the same for Reynardine ... I would actually love to hear Julibee do that ... but not sure Strummy or Grant can do it as well as Richard did on that one day and night.

Also worth it ... get "Rising for the Moon", the remastered version. The last piece ... "One More Chance" is an obvious tribute to Sandy right after she passed away and it is magnificent ... but the one to hear is her piano version promo on the CD ... it is even more gutwrenching than the first one ... but it is beautiful ... it's like she knew!

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

Right after listening to Peaches with Regalia and Frank, I will put on ... "Spirit" from Gary's first solo album ... still one my favoritest guitar solo ever done ... and the kind of blow out that I like to hear a lot of ... that is not just a simplified, washed down version of the real thing!

I would think that Hawkwind might get that credit ... between "In Search of Space" and "Space Ritual", I almost think that Motorhead, just does not sound that good.

But yeah, I happen to like Hawkwind and when I need my ears blown out, guess what goes on the earphones? Space Ritual, In the Hall of the mountain Grill, Astounding Sounds Amazing Music, Electric Tepee (massive ambient acid rock blowout!) and It is the Business of the Future to be Dangerous.
